Thread: An alternative to the Antarian Rangers
If there is enough interest, perhaps another cross-server PA or Unofficial PA could be established using the role of the Sector Ranger. What is a Sector Ranger you might ask?
Sector Rangers:
a loose association of local system police forces which filled the gaps in the galactic law enforcement system, the Sector Rangers were created by the planetary governors of the Old Republic. The Senate authorized the formation of the Sector Rangers in an effort to bring law enforcement to newly colonied worlds quickly and efficiently. The Jedi Knights couldn't be everywhere, so the Sector Rangers held sway in their own systems. When the Empire overthrew the Old Republic, many of the larger forces were usurped into the Imperial machine as the Imperial Sector Rangers. Others simply fell through the cracks, and remained separate enforcement agencies. After the Battle of Endor, the Sector Rangers continued to bring Imperial law to the worlds of the Outer Rim. The motto of the Sector Rangers read, "What others abandon, we protect."

I think the Ant ron rangers are a complete joke
This is an interesting idea. My character is a Corellian and a ranger. I've read up a lot on Corellia and the Corellian people, and Corellians are supposed to be very independent and don't appreciate outside control. The Corellian System has always sort of done its own thing even under the Old Republic. I've been trying to set my character up as an independent-minded Corellian who wants to keep order and justice in the Corellian System and try to keep the strict Imperial rule held back a bit. So I'm not necessarily Imperial, but this idea of Sector Rangers might fit in with that. I'd like to know what you think. Are Sector Rangers bound to a central organization, like the Empire, or are they suited to their Sector, so rangers on Naboo might enforce things differently (i.e. Imperial Law) than a ranger in the Corellian System (i.e. Independence and introversion)?
Cool idea, and I appreciate any feedback.
Essentially, they were from the Old Republic and were absorbed by the Empire in their Law Enforcement Capacity. Primarily the Empire uses them where they cannot be bothered to keep an eye on things, or as the first line of enforcement where they do. The Sector Rangers are either loved or hated, there is no in between. Many of the Imperial Orgainsations "tolerate" them, not reallly trusting them as they make up the largest number of aliens in the Empire, and many still have Old Republic ideals and feelings. While there are sourcebooks from the SW RPG about the Sector Rangers, there isalso a great "Unofficial" FAQ I found the linke of which is www.starwars-rpg.net/journal/archive/2001-01/rangers.html
Again, I think as many of us would like a more concrete idea of what a ranger is supposed to be in SWG, this could be a help. It also should be noted that when the Empire fell, the Sector Rangers didn't fall with it, they were just absorbed into the New Republic, so they have that "always there" sort of feel about them.

Not to get all defensive........but why exactly do you see us as a complete joke? We've been a factionless guild since the beginning on Ahazi. We welcome both Rebel and Imperial brethern alike. Rangers first, faction second. Yes we supposedly are assisting jedi on our server, though I've yet to do so myself. Personally, even if it wasn't a guild thing I think I would still get a kick out of trying to help a jedi reach his/her full potential. It would be great seeing a master jedi tossing MBH's and commado's around...........that's just IMHO. Any and everyone who has come to me for any assistance, usually training, I always help out. I NEVER expect anything in return, nor do any of my guildies. We do what we can to provide for our members as well. So is it our eagerness to help others that makes us a joke? I see that as a good thing.
