Hello all, first off let me say what a helpfull and mature community you guys have here.

I have wanted to do ranger since I first started playing, but I worked mostly on pvp for my main character and buff bot/grind/chef with my alt. I have pretty much stoped doing pvp, and trying to concentrate more on crafting with my alt. Anyway, I am thinking of starting up a third character as a ranger/ sword or pike.

Anyway what i was wondering is how much a bonus do you get as far as creature harvesting go, ei meat, hide, bone, milk, ect. This is what I am mostly interested in, is it worth getting master or just certain trees in ranger.

I was reading about how you guys deal with clients and the networking you do. For me the most fun I have in this game is the interaction between my friends and people I meet, so ranger seems like it would fit my play style. Plus with a little work make myself some good money.

Any advice would be great

2 things:

swordsman is the best of both worlds, excellent dmg, decent protection vs. melee attacks.
pikeman is currently a loot dependant profession with crappy defenses, its my personal weapon of choice cause i think its sexy

If you are mainly in it for organic harvesting, just go up the tracking line. The difference between tracking IV and master ranger really isnt substantial (we would like it to be in the future, but thats another issue)

If you do swordsman, tracking IV, you will have enough skill points to gain the good defenses in fencer, or the meditation and defenses in tka.

Hope this helps... the biggest drawback is while the scout traps are useful, they wont stick on your high level critters, but with a template designed for pve, you wont need them a whole lot.

Agon covered it pretty well. You should note, however, that milk is not affected by any mods in any tree...ie, as long as you are able to milk (i.e. maskscented of concealed) you get the same amount as everyone else. Since your goal seems the be harvesting resources, I would suggest you use the Veghash that you Chef alt can make.
