I like Ranger for the freedom, I have always wandered from planet to planet and city to city and have always been welcome. I am neutral and do not belong to the Imp or Reb faction. Recently I was rudely stopped by a town and not so politely asked to leave. It seems I had a Probe Bot and Kwi pet out (meat hook, I am a Master Ranger/Fencer/CH) and was passing through town toward a mission. From what I can gather, a Bounty Hunter was nearby, and a friend of a Jedi in the town thaught I was tracking Jedis for the BH. I was refered to as a coward, and when I asked what was the problem I was told I must not be "that bright to think they wouldn't notice" and I should be a man and "face them in the open and not hide behind an army". I explained what I was doing, and their response was nasty and I was asked to leave the area. Now I thaught this was a bit paranoid until I started to monitor my guilds chat concerning BH's and our Jedi. It seems Jedi are getting very paranoid, and Rangers are starting to be viewed with suspicion. I am relaying my experiences (happened 2 days ago) and not sure how or even IF we should do something about this. I would hate for Rangers to be looked upon as informantes and stoolies, individuals not to be trusted. Thaughts???

WOOT! We're feared!!!

If you show up as blue on someones radar their always going to think your of the opposing faction. Nothing you can really do. Except that if they wont reason with you. /addignore

So.......the Jedi have a choice to make. Fear us because we might be leading bounty hinters or gannk squads to them, or trust us and get us to help them complete their knight trials.

So... the BH have a choice too. Ask us to help track Jedi, or think that we're helping the Jedi hide from them.

Just my opinion.

They both are such simple, egocentric creatures aren't they?

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

hehe - reminds me of the old days when nothing would sendjedi scurrying faster than a master ranger coming over the hill. Haha good times. But seriously, what did these guys think - you were going to gank their jedi with a probot and a kwi? LOL - and they called you a coward!

Standard BH - brain of a mushroom, tactics of a rock, perception of an amoeba (apologies to mushrooms, rocks and one celled organisms)

Standard Jedi - was a BH til the grind started, or got BH to find holos to do the grind

Tell ya something??

With the now fixed and faster updating droids a ranger will be slower than a bh to locate the mark, guess people will realise that at some point :-).

ROFL. Well for one as a player, screw the jedi. They are such a large group of whiners. They run around buffed all the time, flaunting their powers in front of everyone, and wonder why they get hunted. I'm a ranger and I don't buff, so what's that say about them?

As a character and RP it, I personally am a strong Rebel Ranger. I use my skills to track imperial, both players and NPC. I RP against the Imp and dark jedi. They are pulling the energy out of nature, destroying nature with no regard for the balance of it, and just sucking it dry. They must be stopped, for the balance of all things living in the galaxy. So when my BH guildmates ask me to help them on jedi missions, I do so with honor and vigor.

Hint on good Jedi hunting team. 2-3 BH, a good melee tank or 2, a Ranger and Squad Leader. The ranger for the tracking, and camo to help lesson annoying agros on planets. The SL to use group TN, and /retreat which is free burst run for the whole group, to catch those running jedi.

If people start to do the same atitude to me because I"m ranger. Oh well. I know enough people know what a ranger is, I know enough people know me personally and what I stand for in the game. Anyone who knows those two things, wouldn't be name calling me. Anyone, I don't care about since they don't know me anyway, and what difference does it make.

WAIT, before you take Phenix's statement as a challenge to go read the jedi or BH boards I have to warn you... you will NOT be the same after wallowing in the filth there.. the whining and the bitching, the hate permiates the atmosphere and you wont be able to operate at a normal functional level for days..

Trust me, it took us a week to get Teranus back to rangering after he spent one hour in the Jedi forums... the BH forums are just as bad...

Dont risk your sanity, stay out!!!

Yeah.

I think one of the problems is the waythat Jediinterpret thier skills - its all to do with combat generally.

At master healer, for example, you get a "healAll" ability which heals a proportion of wounds, status, health, mind, action and battle fatigue. So thats one move that can do what a doctor and entertainer can do in one without the resources needed while only using 1/8th of his force power- thats one hell of an ability imo. One jedi's complaint was that in combat it wasn't useful enough because of the force power cost vs the amount healed. I then pointed out to him that it probably wasn't meant to be used in the middle of combat but after it before he realised it was probably quite a good ability.

Yeah the Jedi boards are filled with whiners but thats because the class wasn't just built with powergamers in mind and they can't seem to wrap thier heads around this concept. The problem is far too many people want an "I win" button - I think some people are going to be in for a surprise after the combat balence when spamming specials is not going to be an option.

Ariven's right, it took me a half gallon of rum to be right again after an hour on the Jedi forums.
