The tracking tree enables you to harvest more from one creature, but the difference with the scout hunting tree isn't very big. The advantage of the tracking tree is that you get /areatrack, which is a command to search the area; useful if you want high-quality meat only certain creatures drop.

First, the bad news.

Based on posts in this forum, templates novice scout + stacked combat classes (+ harvest droid) are believed to be able to harvest more meat over a given time period than novice ranger + elite combat class (+ harvest droid) templates because they can make up for the harvest bonus shortfall with increased kill speed.

I have played:

1. MR + MP + Nov. Medic, and I wouldn't recommend pistoleer as an efficient combat class for meat harvesting. It works if you use tactics, but its slow.

2. Nov. Ranger + TKM + Nov. Medic (+ left over pistoleer defenses) and its leagues ahead of the 1st template in terms of harvesting efficiency, esp. when buffed. Lean mean killing machine, indeed Plus, disease and poison are no longer an issue.

3. Now I'm working towards TKM + M. Rifleman + Nov. scout + Nov. Medic. So far, it seems to work even better than 2. Unbuffed but with at least brandy, you can take on most creatures This is with 2102 Rifleman. Master Rifleman is said to be a quantum leap ahead of even 4444, so I have high hopes. Plus, if necessary, you can always use tactics to stack the odds in your favor.

A master rifleman with some food buffs like brandy, ahrissa and canapes has nothing to fear from any mob upto 12k ham.

Any creatures with 4k or less ham can be wasted with point blank area aimed at the nest or strafe 2.

8k - 12k ham on creatures and u can pick them off singley. Most if not all will be dead before they reach combat range with you(most of my kills drop at 20-10m from me allowing easy harvesting).

The biggist problem with rifleman is the self inflicted damage from specials. Without buffs u can fire your gun maybe 10-20 times (20-30 seconds) before u need to heal. Self INCAPPING is a great problem for rifleman.

Before master rifleman though u can conceal shot almost ANYTHING in game. Peko peko Albatross at 80-90k ham, Giant dune Kimogila at 100k ham (resists on this are a royal pain) Just be prepared for a LONG fight. Personally it takes me 30 mins to solo the albatross unbuffed and the last giant dune kimogila took 1 hour 40 mins of conceal shot and running away to finally kill it.

My main is a doc/merchant, so obviously he can't gather the meats for himself. So I have this alt that has the full potential of getting it for him, so that means Ranger/???, it'll actually be xx4x ranger and 433x medic because the other trees are pointless in terms of gathering meats for a doctor. What profession effectively correspondes with ranger and meatgathering?
