Sometimes I miss the fact that we can't fall off things. Often in EQ I would be sowed and running through BB or somesuch and next minute BANG, I had fallen into a gully or somesuch and lost oodles of health. A pain in the ass but much more realistic.

Ever played Morrowind ?
The system for travelling over hills and cliffs went on your current level and ability to walk/run and jump.. Just to tag on something else, the housing system in morrowind takes the housing system in SWG and does something yellow and dribbly on it from a great height.. In morrowind if there is space you can use it, in SWG I have a house which is barely even looking decorated and I can't place anything else down because its full, even though I can see that about 40-50% of the floor and wall space in each room is empty..
Our system for hills/cliffs IS stupid.. how you can go from the top of theed waterfall to the bottom without it taking offa sniff of HAM is beyond me.. I mean come on , if you went over that and hit the water at the bottom you would more than likely die or at least brake a few bones, possibly drown. Speaking of which why is it that I can't put my head underwater or swim underwater but if I get incapped in water my head rests beneath the surface for a good 60-90 seconds without me drowning ?
Also the cliff thing shouldn't apply to just players, it should apply to NPC and creatures, if something can't get up a cliff you should get away safely because you climbed up there and it couldn't... I saw a bantha asleep upside down on the side of a cliff yesterday, it was funny and me and my friends did have a good laugh about it , not to mention the time when we saw rancors actually walking up a cliff like they had suckers for feet... But then the conversation began to drift on to World of Warcraft.
Oh, and if you are sat on a speederbike/swoop and you are verticle facing the top of the cliff you would fall off or be dangling off holding the handle bars, if you were the other way round you would fall off head first or flip over and getrun over by your own bike, you wouldn't justbe in exactly the same position as if you were horizontal... I can't go into all of the insane things that happen in this game which ruin the sense of being truly there, but the first thing that really made me think "Meh, that sucks" was when I walked up to that huge door at Jabba's palace, it started to open as I walked towards it then I walked right through it and it started to close again...
I think that if I wanted to I could write a post 50ft long about the strange things that seem to happen everytime I walk out of my completely full half empty house.

I certainly wish the Devs had included more environmental aspects to the game. When I was a noob, i would always be carful when approaching a ledge, but then Iearned the truth. I also (as most of us do) wish storms were more than eye-candy, and it would be kinda cool to find quicksand beds and other hazards out there. As it stands, your only concerns in the wild are what mobs are around, but they even fluffed those up to, so what is to be afraid of in the wild?

Hitting Numlock when you are on the way to aPOI 10k away , going to the toilet , coming back to find you got stuck ona harvestor about 500m away from your starting position ?..
Apart from that I can say I'm pretty much stuck with laughing at bantha that sleep upside down on verticle cliff faces.

on a separate note, Morrowind was a great example of how the environment could be a hazard in itself. There were poison mists, huge cliffs, even traps that could really hurt someone.
Im a little annoyed that the only place that the environment can hurt me is over the sarlaac pit.
I really like the terrain negotiation idea that would force people to crawl up mountains....that would be sweet
although the forge path is a good idea, im not sure how that would be implemented.

Just a thought, but wouldn't it be cool if Rangers were the only ones able to reach some of the highest peaks in game? Able to actually climb, not run, up mountains that other people have to find a trail to getup? I know the devs would probably never do this, but I always hated seeing people RUN up mountains. How stupid is that? When you reach a sheer cliff, of which there are many in game, you should have to climb. Shift it to the crawl animation and if you do not possess the necessary skills to climb that cliff, you go about ten feet and thats all she wrote. If you want to be able to climb those mountains and cross into unknown territory, you better be well equipped to do so. Which means you better be a Ranger. Maybe with a Ranger in your group, you could gain a bonus to your climbing ability, which would allow you to cross those mountains you had to go around before, assuming you could go around them. Rangers would be the pathfinders of any group. To steal a line from that other sci fi movie, "able to boldly go where no man or alien has gone before."
Like I said though, this would probably never be introduced into game, it would just alter way too much, but it would still be cool in my humble opinion.
