Ok, now I've looked everywhere and saw the pricing guide on the FAQ page but am still really confused as to HOW certain meats and such are sold at 50 to 100 cpu? Now I admit I am horrible at math, but this is how I interpreted it.

Using the following formulas to get cpu prices:

{OQ+OQ+PE} /3 get the cpu price from the folling chart:

Weighted Avg. of 500: 5.00cpu
Weighted Avg. of 600: 6.67cpu
Weighted Avg. of 700: 8.33cpu
Weighted Avg. of 800: 10.00cpu
Weighted Avg. of 850: 15.00cpu
Weighted Avg. of 900: 20.00cpu
Weighted Avg. of 950: 35.00cpu
Weighted Avg. of 1000: 50.00cpu

Then multiply that cpu price by 1.5 Is that correct? How else to you get the price up so high? Please help out a mathmatically challenged Ranger. LOL.

The formula you're using isn't exactly accurate. Depending on who you want to sell to you're going to be using one of a few different calculations. This really depends on the kind of meat you're selling. Carnivore, which you'll want to find a chef to buy, will not be paying alot for the resource. Carnivore meat seems to be pretty easy to come by on many servers right now so don't expect to be selling it too high. Avian and Herbivore however will be much easier to unload at higher prices. High Quality Avian has been quoted at around 200cpu on some of the "rich" servers. Herbivore also will sell pretty well at higher prices. If your talking Insect or Reptillian you're gonna have to go to a Bio-Engineer I think. They have many uses for it... but again you won't be getting the price you'll be pulling from Avian or Herbivore.

When you're dealing with Docs (I.E. Selling Avian or Herbivore) the old rule of (2OQ + PE) / 3 works well. When you're dealing with almost anyone else the equation for Meat is (OQ + PE + FL) / 3. For the most part high DR will also let you push the price up a tad.

How much do you ask? That comes down to server demand. I recommend getting a stack of whatever you can (something in the neighboorhood of 5- 10k and auctioning it off in lots on your Trade Forum. This will give you a sense of what the going price is AND set you up with a buyer for that resource in the future. Remember... Docs will pay the most for Avian, BE's will pay be interested in large stacks of Wild, Reptillian, Insect or Carnivore, and Chef's want whatever good Carnivore you can get your hands on, some insect, and some herbivore. When dealing with Chef's BARTER don't sell. You can usually get some good deals on Scout foods which aren't big sellers but are GREAT for our profession.

A general rule? My most recent calculations have put the weighted value around here...

800-999 = Above Average
700-800 = Average Market Price
600-700 = BelowAverage
<600 = No less than 5cpu

Unfortunately as each server is different it's up to you to find the market price.

Sorry if I complicated things but it's important to know who's buying and to know that certain professions will not pay what other professions will.

(I'm almost done with an EXTENSIVE FAQ that will help with these pricing issues and understanding demand. Expect it sometime before Friday)

Mine is easier - base price is 2

what am I hunting, as in stats - medium/good/great/outstanding ... modifiers 1/2/3/4

what do I kill to get it, the bigger the yield, the lower the price .... small/medium/large/wow 4/3/2/1

what planet is it on... easy/medium/hard/freaking yavin ...... 1/2/3/4

How long will it take me to get what is needed... 1/2/3/4

example, good avian on corellia.... good is 2, avian is 4, corellia is 1, freaking avian4 - no less than36 cpu. Same stuff on Yavin... at least double that

Now, I have hunted some stuff with 1000 as a stat, as in hide w/electrical resistance - 100cpu regardless. I made a million in two days of casual hunting, and then charged the dude extra as his only vendor was in an Imperial town I literally have to sneak into. 20% delivery charge for the lazy turd.

Any meat with 3 stats over 900 - at least 80cpu

Hides, who cares unless its an armorsmith, we can sell hides all day long, with crappy stats to a tailor. The trick there is endorian wool (gurrecks) and tatooine wool (banthas). Easy to get, sells well in big stacks to architects (endor) and tailors (tat).

Better yet, stand around a starport with a lot of sellers/buyers. See what the going rates are. We are a minority, anything in large stacks will sell well.
