Thread: Tell me the good things, I can see the bad

I left SWGs over a year ago and resigned a few days ago. I can see from just logging in all the bad things, and they were confirmed and then some from some of the posts. Tell me though, apart from RP, what are the good things to Ranger? It was what I wanted to be from the first day of release, but I got caught up in crafting. So now, I'm wondering, besides the romantic notion of being a "Ranger" is there anything of substance to justify the prof?

In the words of Arnold - "If it bleeds, we can kill it"

Seems with maskscent and traps, decent weapon skills, and a small amount of brains - we are the new lean mean creature killing machines. Read some of the posts, Rangers are soloing all sorts of stuff. To include stuff we "can't" solo.

And resources are starting to sell again too.

Don't forget our revamped harvesting mods - you harvest tons more now at master ranger than you did before they put them in. Also, our presence in a group improves the harvesting rate for the entire group. If you're out to get tons of resources as fast as possible, then these mods really help.

Traps have really become a lot more worthwhile since the CU - not just the possibly-too-good-to-be-true p-dart, but many of the other ones as well, as they let you apply states that you might not otherwise have. Yes - a few traps are broken, but the CU did a lot to make our trapping skills worthwhile again. As JB said, traps have really made us pretty powerful against critters. Also, traps really increase your usefulness in groups, as you can help keep states and roots on things.

/forage has actually improved as well - a lot of the foods you can forage now have decent mods. Not as great as chef mods, but they will help if you run out of chef food.

Thats a fair question :-)

The good things...

We have a very effective snare now

Our droids are more useful to us now

We can out-harvest anyone (and make a ton of money in the process)

Our camps can heal folks really fast

Camo seems to be more effective against both creatures and NPCs

We now have (albeit small) a market for selling camo kits now that every can apply it themselves

Man-tracking helps BH narrow in on their markjs, and helps them identify anyone helping their marks

Its not all bad, still some very nice things all told

You can't count on P-Darts forever.

They'll fix them eventually.

Well we do harvest a lot, but novice scouts harvest a lot still too, and the market for top end armor resources seems to be saturating.

I do agree with most of the other idea's too. With doctors being the only ones with wound healing, I set down a camp and did a little RP to heal people's wounds yesterday. As a carbineer, I was never able to solo anything before, but against creatures I'm fairly useful. I miss the creature knowledge details, but we do get a little more info than everyone else.

Oh we get terrain negotiation, as in it's exclusive now, CM's don't get any. Useful in PvP.

Given SOE's track record, I expect this sooner rather than later.

I've always wanted to flood a market with something so people would stop complaining about it.

Maybe I should just keep the pearls to myself and make credits off of Jedi that way? I mean, because they "have" to "have" them. They want them, but the just "have" to "have" them.
