Thread: +5 camping vs. +5 surveying

If you train the FS box Survival I, you get a +5 to camping which allows you to set up basic camps without Scout skills.
If you train the FS box Surveying I, you get a +5 to Surveying which allows you to... Do nothing.
Why?
(There's speculation that Survival IV will let you harvest as well, can anyone confirm or deny? I lost the earlier thread on that. >.< )

I think it boils down to:
Camps/Traps are items. You need certain skill certs to use those items. The skill certs happen to be based on your camping/trapping mod so they can be used with only the mod (stuff like TN also falls into this category).
Surveying, Harvesting, etc. are skills (i.e. / commands). To use a skill, you have to have the skill box that grants the / command for that skill. Skill mods related to that command are bonuses that only apply when you use the / command.
