Okay so I had heard all of the horror stories regarding both the Creature Handler and Ranger professions - both professions that I mastered waaaaaay back in the very early days of SWG but they were professions that I had fond memories of and when the /respec came around I thought I would revisit them for old times sake.
Not having enough points to get both masters and BH 0-0-3-0, I opted for Master Creature Handler and 4-3-4-4 Ranger and BH 0-0-3-0.I can harvest my kills I thought for xp - the 225k xp needed for 4-4-4-4 still looked tough though, and the further 1m xp needed to master looked positively frightening!
But undaunted by this, off I headed to Endor in search of a Arachne Widow baby to tame. Fortunately, I had a few pets left over from my time as a CH and my companion of choice was a CL59 Merek, by the name of John (think about it....) I quickly located several lairs and began working my way through them.
Sending my pet in to pull them 1 at a time worked a treat, I would back him up with an underhand shot (knockdown), followed by a confusion shot (stun/dizzy) then auto attack until dead and before long I had enough xp for 4-4-4-4 Ranger, several Arachne Warrior babies (not what I went for but oh well) and quite a stack of havested resources to sell. Not bad for a couple of hours work I thought to myself.
The next night, I decided to try my luck on Dathomir, a baby Bull rancor would be nice I thought! Again, using mask scent to get right up close and my CL59 Merek to pull them one at a time we were going through lairs with very little downtime.
That was 2 nights ago, I am still looking for my baby Bull Rancor, but my stack of hide and bone is rapidily approaching 100k units each and the million points of xp needed to gain Master Ranger is now only 300k
In conclusion, I may not have the most 'uber' template around and my chosen professions might be broken and in need of some serious love - but it sure is fun!

Well done for persevering with CH and it is great to hear that you have made it work for you. I was gonna go MR/MCH at one point but I was too impatient to wait for them to fix the pets after the CU. Oh yes and I agree with you, the BH ranged knockdown is awesome, I love it
