Thread: Bounty hunter + Advanced Trapping Mastery&Wayfaring III??
Hey there, Im on my way to becoming a bounty hunter but am still trying to decide where to put my extra 33 skill points after I get master BH. I figured out that I could fill up 1 whole tree plus 3 slots in another in the ranger tree if I wanted to, I was thinkin about getting my Advanced Trapping mastery because I love useing traps and wayfaring III to be better at concealment, speed bursting and terrain negotiation.
What do you guys think of this? Any rangers out there who can comment on the trapping/wayfaring trees? Is it worth it or should I think about one or both of the other trees in that class (cant remember the names of those 2 trees right now)
Thanks in advance for your feedback.

Traps would definately be more desirable to me. I think making Scout traps pvm only is a good idea and making Ranger traps usable vs players and npcs good cuz it'd give the Rangers more value and uniqueness (is that a word?)
I've also thought about Wayfaring because I roleplay my BH as a woodsy sniper type and the crawling and camo would be useful. I've considered taking the Ranger Camping tree as well because my guild is fairly big and growing and I'd like to be able to provide the nicest encampments.
I'm not sure how the extra Ranger foraging bonuses work, but it'd be nice if they could find nicer buffs than Scouts can. Buffs are essential to a bounty hunter.
Currently the 2 traps you get in the Ranger tree are not exactly worth it and, in fact, may be broken. As a bounty hunter, I am sure your targets would be humanoid and the traps won't help you at all in that regard.
Currently the only benefit the wayfaring gives you is extra prone crawling speed.
Think about it carefully before you decide. But I guess you can always surrender those skills if you find you don't care for them.
Well i personally am a ranger, and to be honest I can't say that putting those points into the ranger tree is all that good of an idea. Simply because by master scout your already 2/3rds as effective as even a master ranger, seeing as how there isn't much to build on in the ranger tree. Also wayfairing really isn't that great, any terrain negotiation in the wayfairing line just increases prone speed (since by master scout you can already go up slopes as fast as possible) and the burst run effeciency simply just reduces the amount of HAM dmg you take when you burst run, it does NOT make it last longer, and it does NOT make you any faster. Also the camoflauge doesn't seem to do a WHOLE lot, but can help when mask scenting against blues and lower. As for the trapping tree the 2 ranger traps really don't work that well. If your going to go up any tree I'd say survival simply because of the high tech camp kits at the end, (which in the next update will have a large update to healing rate). Ranger is a great class don't get me wrong, but its really just if you want to be a better scout and not all that great to suppliment BH. But thats just my opinion.
Thanks for the replies, i have been looking at the ranger tree quite a bit and it is unfortunate that it is not better... it has a lot of potential but its just not there right now... I was hoping the advanced trapping tree would be better such as PVP traps, because i really enjoy using traps. I also really enjoy exploring on my own and take pride in being a survivalist (thats the title I stick to for my character).
I guess I will stay away from the Ranger tree for now until they tweak it a bit... thanks for the feedback.
