sometimes when you target animals with traps, sometimes people get the "can only target creatures error message" I have heard people complain about it in game and it recently happened to me, please devs, help

Are you sure you weren't targetting a player made/raised creature? This is the message you'll get when you try to throw a trap at a pet...

Also... note that if you are fighting a mob, but select someone else (you can target two items during combat.. yellow being your current aggro... blue being your examine)... This could be the reason you are getting the error message as well.

Verify this isn't the case... and then I think you'll have yourself a legit bug.

I've had this happen....specifically in a lagged zone on Chilastra. In every case I killed the creature with gunfire before I threw the trap. I think it has to do with the combination of server side lag and the natural delay of traps that is somehow resulting in gunfire before the trap is tossed. The result, if you kill the creature before your trap gets tossed, you get the message because you are now trying to throw the trap at a corpse.

But yes, I had this happen two nights ago under the conditions I described above.

I get this when lag kills the creature and I don't see it yet. If this happens usually the death is eminate. The client throws the trap but the creature is now a corpse on the server, hense the message.
