It's pretty simple,

Get yourself a weapon/droid/generic items crafting tool. So not the red/white generic one you are probably using now.

Go to a crafting station and start the crafting process to make a trap of the resources you want to use in the factory.

At the last step you get a choice to experiment/create a prototype/create schematic. Pick the last one: create schematic. (experimenting doesn't do anything on traps so that basically is useless to us).

Set the number of items you want the schematic to be able to produce. (Due to the factory bug I make schematics of 25 items and put resources in the factory for 24. My factory never jams. )

You need an Equipment Factory, put the schematic in, the resources and start the run.

It'll spit out crates of 25 traps of the one you are making. It's a godsent and I always make my traps this way, providing I got enough resources to make so many.

Good luck with it!

Not really hard, just takes some thinking. And lots and lots of credits

Make a trap on a specialized weapon, droid, general crafting tool - not the generic tool. Be near either a public crafting station, or your own. This will let you experiment with the results. Experiment with it - then when you are happy, and you go to craft it, tell the machine you want to save as a schematic- follow the steps there, not hard, and have it make at least 100. This gives you a schematic.

Go toyour factory, load enough raw materials (must all be the same, no mixing of hides / bone ) into the hopper. Load the schematic. Load power into the machine. Make sure the machine has enough maintenance fund to last the entire run. Start the process. Wait a while and they will be done. Taaa-daaahhh.

Lemme see here - 1 factory - 25k if you get the materials for the guy making it, or 100k or more if ya don't. Then you have to calculate how much material to get, as in hides and bones. Remember, no mixing avian with animal, and the bones on the schematic must be what you load -- same same for the hides, you use wooley in the plans, you use wooley in the factory or it don't work.

Factoring in the cost of the factory, the expenses of keeping it running, the fact you need power for it, well, its a credit muncher.

Do I buy traps? Hell no, I can make em quicker, I have two tools on me at all times and usually enough materials to knock out a reload for my basic load (Pdarts, Glow wire, adhesive, flare and sonic) in a couple/5 mins. Is there a market, beats me, never looked. I was approached by a friend about making traps and camps for a business he was setting up on Dantooine. No one bought traps, or camps, but the couplers I made sold like hotcakes.

Not raining on your parade, just letting you know the real deal. Have at it.

I am able to make all the traps and field base crates in my factory with a great deal of ease. This is what I did.

* Acquire a weapon, droid, and general crafting tool (it's this blue mechanical device that I think looks like a grater). Typically I have two of them of good quality. The prices range.
* Acquire a weapon, droid, and general crafting station (it's the WOPR-looking grey machine). Mine is about 10 in quality. Expect to pay about 1k per +1 point.
* Acquire a house or some other establishment that you have administration rights so. You need this in order to drop things in your house. You need to drop the crafting station in order to use it.
* Acquire an equipment factory. This ranges in price from 30-60k. This is placed outside your house and requires both credits for maintenance (1.2k a day I think) and energy (only used up when used).
* I use fairly high-quality resources for all my crafting. I sell the uber-fantastic stuff and the not-great stuff and keep the rest.
* Standing in front of the crafting station, I craft with my tool a trap as normal. I am able to I experiment on them (I know, doesn't do anything now but hopefully this will change in the future). If you don't get the experiment choice, then it is either /buggy or you are not using the right tool in front of the right crafting station. After experimenting, I do not create a prototype; I create a schematic.
* I bring the schematic to my factory where I insert it in the schematic slot. I dump the appropriate ingredients into the input hopper and start it. Anywhere from 15 minutes to 30+ later, I've got my crate of goodies.

I've had no difficulties at all with this method and I love my crated materials. They take up less room and doing this sort of set up allows me to organize my resources better than before. Now, if only I had a food/chemical factory and then I would make my own stims too....

I'm unable to make schematics for most traps, and I can't make them for ANY Ranger items at all. I'm using the tools described in this post, it just doesn't work. I was able to make 2 crates of adhesive mesh traps, but I can't make glow wire. This is highly frustrating, since the complexity is lower on them!

I'd be extremely grateful for any suggestions on this.

OK, it turned out that the crafting tool itself was bugged. It would only let me create certain schematics. A friend gave me a different tool, which works exactly as one would expect with schematics, stations and factories. I'm now a crate-toting ranger, as I should be =)
