Here's what I did to complete this. Even at full efficiency, it took what seemed like 2 weeks of real time. Argh!
- Method 1: Fish Camp
- Set up a camp on the VERY edge of a beach. Naboo or Yavin IV are good for this. If you do it right, the camp will be partially submerged, and water will cover the ground inside the camp.
- Fish! Each fish nets you anywhere from 40-150 wilderness survival, and it helps pass the time.
- Disband camp. Repeat.
- Method 2: Med Camp
- Set up a camp as close to town as possible. I did this right outside the Reb base on Rori, but if you're an overt Imp, that's not a very good idea =)
- Ask doctors to heal folks in your camp. With a couple of docs going and a few visitors, your camp will max out XP in about 5-10min.
- Disband camp. Repeat.
- Method 3: Camp Grind (the "None of my friends are around" method)
- Set up a camp.
- Go do something else for 20min.
- Disband camp. Repeat.
Additionally, try making crates of camps. This frees up inventory space nicely and makes the grind go a lot faster.

It brings up the question of game ethics, but you can macro camping. I was able to get all the way up to Survival IV in a few days, although I think I was already on Survival II when I learned how to do the macro.
Here's a link on how to do it:

I've tried the "set up camp and do something else for 20 minutes" method, and I find that very often I'll come back to find myself at the character selection screen. Does anyone know a way to prevent this?

Funny, the first 4th tier box I ever got was survival 4. No grind invloved, I just used camps when I/the group needed them.

I just got frontier4 today. What a grind yes. Was it worth it? YES! I made and used every camp while hunting and it took a long time that way. Sweet Joy I made it!

Buy 5000 units of metal, get alot of bones and hides and make high quality camps until you can make field camps. Crafting camps gives the most experience i think it's 175 exp per camp kit crafted. Setup a field base and sit and craft field base camp kits. I did this on my last 20k of WS exp and i did it in 2 hours by just crafting camp kits and sitting in my camp, rotate new camps every 27 mins and craft foeld base camp kits and you'll max it out in no time. Crafting camp kits gives great WD exp,, crafting traps gives Pudu for experience in comparison. I just kept destroying my kits as i went along to make room for more, sure i wasted like 8k creds worth of resources but i got that boring crap out of my way. 2 boxes of wayfaring and 1 tracking and i will be a master ranger.

Good suggestions thank D. I currently go the fishing one...litterally passed out dead asleep last night at the keyboard doing it and had a friend in camp grinding wepsmith. When I woke at 3am, my camp had disappeared, I was stading knee deep in water and I had about 15 messages from my friend who had continued on with a conversation we were having before I nodded off
I got some explaining to do tonight..heheh.

When you're out in big hunting parties and there's lots of healing going on all night, don't leave a camp up for more than 5 or 10 minutes, tops. With lots of healing going on, the camp will max out survival xp quickly. Ifyou can, take one down and pop a new one up in its place once you think its topped out.
