Thread: First Holocron-Master Ranger
Well I got my fits holocron & was totally happy with Master Ranger.....that was until I began on Camp XP.
Im happy killing & harvetsing & all the rest but camp XP....yuck.
I have rec'd a tip to place a camp within spitting distance of red dots i.e. creatures. This not only gives camp XP but Scout XP.
Is this true?
Any other tips would be gretly appreciated.
camp XP is a bitch if you insist on getting it solo. but that's not really what camps are for, eh? you get camp XP fast in large groups (where you're the only one who needs camp xp)
afraid there is no two ways about it. either you have to get a group of friends to power camp you or, find a nice quiet spot to set camp for 50mins, and read a book/surf while you wait, disband and reset again.
This bit is the most time consuming part of the class if you are trying to power level solo but if you take it as it comes, do missions with friends, hunt for stuff together and set a camp when you guys are resting between skirmishes, you might find it more enjoyable. Won't kid you though, it does take awhile.
If you really want to power level, camp and trap crafting gives survival xp. Fishing does as well but it will be slower than crafting. A big group hunt is the most fun way to get it. Just remember that the camp will disband on combat (although you will get the xp for it).

P.S. I didn't power to Master. I did it the hard way. Before you could craft or fish for xp.
The best way I've found to get through the camp exp is to craft like20 camps and make a macro that will harvest minerals. After every harvest have your character place a camp then sit. Looks something like this
/sample; /pause 3;/ sit;/ ui action toolbarSlot01; /ui action toolbarSlot02....(for as many camps as you made)/pause 30;/ ui action toolbarSlot00 (this is the reapeating part)
Note:if you already in a camp you can't place another so the extra toolbarSlot's get ignored
This may not be perfect but it gives you the idea (I can't remember the exact macro). Anyways when you character sits he moves backwards just a little bit, do that 30 times and he has left the camp. The camp will auto-disband when you leave it for a while and then you'll automatically place another and do the whole thing over. So you'll get high camp exp for useing a camp for so long, More camp exp for healing action points in the camp from sampling, and get surveying exp along with whatever mineral you harvesting. You can grab around 20k camp exp a night. So write it then just chat with your guild or something. You could also extend the pause 30 to pause 50 and then craft an item in there as well.
Hope it helps
My first holo as well told me to Master Ranger. I'm coming from BH 2/4/4/4
Where is the squll cavers?
Also is it true that if you use better hide and bone you get more XP when crafting camps? I've been crafting camps while I sit in mine.
Thanks for the info.
I must be totally thick as I have no idea what a Holocron is ! Can anyone explain please ? I don't see many Master Rangers on Eclipse (Tatooine - Bestine), are there many out there ?
Finally,I have Tracking II, and when activated it tells me whats in the vicinity but how do you locate them - u cant click on one to give you a waypoint - just head for the direction it says its in ? Does tracking get better ?
Thank you for any response.
I too worked my way through most of the ranger tree alone, was 4/3/4/4 when the change went into effect for camp crafting. Hunting with a group is a great way to get exp but I tend to be a loner when playing that is why I chose ranger. Ranger's are supposed to be explorers, out on their own, wondering about planets, seeing the sights, etc right? So most of my exp came while just out by myself in the wilderness and this took quite a while to do. Another tip is set up your camps just outside of town where people will run through it on their way out of or into town. I believe having more visitors to a camp helps exp somewhat but not a much as healing in a camp does. A good place for this is the big bridge just south of the starport in theed. Set up a camp right next to the bridge so when people run up the steps on the bridge they are passing through your camp.
As for the tracking, yes it gets better when you get distance and direction to the mobs in your area. This is great for hunting a specific type of resource out in the wilds. But at this point there is no waypoint created to a specific mob when using tracking. Hopfully this will be implemented at some point and hopefully high enough up the skill tree (master) to make rangers a much needed part of a hunting group.
