Thread: Dizzy traps working at all ?

As I understand it , dizzy players/mobs/whatever should (sometimes) fall down when changing posture...

Ive tried things like suppression fire and the pistoleer knockdown, but no single target ever fell back down.

Does it work for anyone at all ? Or is dizzy good for anything else ? I really like traps, but since I cant see any difference in combat after using dizzy or stun traps (or maybe even blind) Im asking myself if the trapping tree is really worth it :-/

Please give some advice if you know how to get it to work .-)

Lobec,

You understand it correctly, and this does work on humanoid NPC's. If you dizzy a stormy, for example, chances are he ain't getting back up before you finish him off. However, to the best of my knowledge, the dizzy state does not affect creatures. So yeah, our lecapanine darts and half of the lvl 3 ranger trap are currently useless, since they don't affect NPCs.

I *think* that I saw in the latest TC patch notes (going live this week) that dizzy will begin working on creatures, but I could be wrong. I know for sure that creatures will no longer get up immediately after being knocked down, but really, I'd rather have dizzy working.

I think you meant creatures, not NPC's.

He meant NPC's.

I think the point here is that although the traps work against creatures (i.e. the dizzy state shows) dizzy itself has no effect on them. Dizzy does have an effect on NPC's, but since our traps don't work on NPC's, it's kind of pointless.

Dizzy and traps...

Well...I remember something from along time ago...and thought the same thing. Long time ago, many patches ago, I brought up this issue, of why the dizzy traps were useless.

Dizzy I believe only works on 2 - legged creatures. It was tested awhile ago, and I don't know if anything changed, but many creatures have more than 2 legs, (or none at all). The magic number is 2, otherwise, the dizzy state is just a pretty icon on the HAM bar.

A list of some 2 legged creatures...monkey's (aka Shaupauts), Kaadu, Squills are the only ones that come to my mind right now. I know there are more, but there you go...try getting a 2 legged creature dizzy, then knocking em down.

There is one use to it however... it works on multiple targets, and it gives xp on each target effected.

I see what you mean now. Thanks for clearing that up.

Seems like they corrected the issue with the big patch. I managed to down Gualamas and Narglatchs, which aren't exactly bipeds .-)

Looks good so far.

The only creatures I've tested on since the patch were Mamiens, and the one that I dizzied and knocked down got right back up again. Guess I'll try it on some four legged creatures and see how it goes.
