Thread: Long Time Ranger unlearning the line
I have been working on Ranger since the first week that the game went live and I am now going to start unlearning the line. I see nothing on the horizon that makes it worth being a Ranger. I have stayed a Master Ranger far longer than my buds in the game... I am now working on Master CH and will work on Master TK (at least I won't need to insure my hands). As I need points I will unlearn different lines of the Ranger tree... starting with the useless trap line.
This latest patch has really sucked the wind out of my like for the game, but I am going to try and stick it out by working a different Elite line. Hopefully things will work out better there. Good luck, Rangers. It doesn't seem like the Dev's care much about the profession.
I think that when my subscription time is up that I will stop payment and quit this game.
I disagree (although I recently gave up the line in an attempt to become a Jedi--I will be getting it back as soon as I can and plan to keep as much as I can). Admittedly, we didn't get much this time (only that maskscent and conceal don't break in combat) but we have been given quite a bit already. Most of our stuff is working and any changes will be additions to the profession. Our dev, GreenMarine, was responsible for Player Cities. Have a look at what is available there to see why we got nothing. If you are not enjoying yourself, then what you are doing is probably best. But the devs do care (and they are nice people if you ever get a chance to talk to them--try some of the ingame events for a chance of that) and are doing their best. There is just so much to do and so few of them. Hiring new people won't really help it, either. Training time would be immense for a new dev and would take away from another dev working usefully for most of it (look at TH--he's taking a while to learn about stuff and he doesn't have to go in and change stuff making sure it doesn't affect other stuff). Look at it from the devs point of view and you'll see they are trying REALLY hard. And a change of profession can often be quite fun (but I still want my master ranger title back

Aye. The game system was apparently designed with this very idea in mind (think about the path to Jedi).
The Melee players made a killing in this Patch...
- /centerofbeing, new defensive mods, Line of Sight.
Being part Melee, this patch greatly affected my character for the better...
- Even if Ranger only received one change (though that change was pretty cool on its own).

Personally, I look at the game as a whole, rather than focusing on a single profession.
- Mounts will improve my partner's game play even though he is nota BE or CH, as he will now be able to keep up with me on the hilly terrain.
Every new change to the game improves my overall game play, whether it is directly to the Ranger profession or not.
- Though I would love some directly related changes as well.

I totally agree, I am about to start taking skills away from Master Ranger as well. I am trying to get Master Carbineer (I know...I love the punishment though) and I cannot learn it all unless I drop some ranger skills. I am trying to just keep the surveying line in artisan so that I can make some cash finding resources for people.
I am thinking about dropping the Wayfaring line first...then the camping line...then the trapping line...I have been trying to hold off on dropping the skills for as long as possible, but now I am out of points and something must go. I have been hoping that they would give us a few of the enhancements soon, so I don't miss them before I drop skills. But I guess I will miss them.
