Thread: Meat prices?
There is a great customer guide in here and someone else posted a formula you can use:

I got out of the meat business totally, as the shifts in resources were sending me all over Dath and creation, the prices were never that great, and everyone wants high OQ this and that, and they thought they would get it for free.
Instead, I now harvest hides almost exclusively, and have a deal with a Tailor. The meat I do harvest is for use in camo kits, or for the tailors BE friend for use in mods. That's it. I quit the... run around finding the good meat, kill/harvest, try and get a good rate game.
OQ doesn't matter (yet) to the Tailors, and the prices I get are pretty well fixed. Oh yeah, free mod'd clothes are nice too. Steady source of income.

tailors cant pay much for anything since there has been no decay on clothes up to this point (although this will be changing). The real money is with the highest paid professions: doctors, armorsmiths and bio-engineers. Armorsmiths are probably the highest paid because of comp demand but for some reason i make more from doctors and bio-engineers. In my noob days i asked any craftsperson i saw if they needed resources and took just about any job. Now that im a master i only TALK business to MASTERS. Remember masters can make bigger payouts than novice craftpersons. And now i have a few people that regularly place orders with me that i either take or dont depending on how much it is paying or how easy (as far as time and difficulty) it will be to complete the assignment.
Doing so has made me rich and getting me richer (3 million credits+ atm). Now i usually donate junk resources to craft grinders and hides to tailors. In fact ive always gotten and given free resources to grinders even before i had gotten master ranger. One thing i learned is that if you take care of others they will take care of you. I get alot of stuff free these days just because of that.
Hide/meat/bone are pivotal resources and make the galaxy move. Therefore although we often disregarded, disrespected and degraded as nothing but mere pet baby/holocron trackers, rangers have a siginificant impact on the economy. We have collect something that EVERYONE is affected by either directly or indirectly.
Hmm.. well, I tend to charge 3 per unit for basic crappy meats. That's usually looked upon as a cheap good rate in town.
If the OQ is over 700, never go below 5 per unit. You can easily get higher if you pitch it at the right folks.
Most meats I hunt, I sell for 7-20 units. I use the following formula I stole from another thread ![]()
OQ/100 + (PE, SR, FL, UT, and/or PE -300)/200 +1
This formula will go up to a maximum of 20 credits if you have organics with several secondary stats over 300. And yes, I am proud I am a true geek ![]()

It helps to understand what's important to the person requesting the meat and base your calculations from that. For example, as a doctor, I'm always in need of avian meat (for enhancement packs). The best avian meat requires high OQ, PE, AND DR. I see, in your formula, DR is nowhere to be found.
I'm not trying to rip on you or your formula. It's awfully difficult to understand how valuable something is, especially if you've never crafted the items that will be made from it before. I can walk around and tell you exactly how good a type of avian or herbivore meat is, but I had to look up an armorsmith and ask him about some wooly hides I had found to see if they were decent or not.
Crafting can be especially tricky when it comes to crunching out themost effectiveitems you possibly can. For example, did you know that, even though the effectiveness of an enhancement pack (which is what avian meat is used for) is stated as 66% OQ and 33% PE, the true effectiveness is actually 50% OQ and 50% PE (due to the fact that reactive gas, the other component, has no PE value)?
I think your best bet would be to try to form a relationship or two with some longstanding customers or some professionals in their respective fields so that you can get their input about how things should be priced.
No problem...no offense taken...still trying to work on this stuff and always learning
And you know what...I did check my notes and I did have it down for DR being important to docs
Need to add this tomy formulalist.
The formula just usually helps me decide about a fair price. If I have large quantities or the area is extremely dangerous, I may ask for more. But this at least gives me a good starting place.
The point behind the formula is OQ is the most important and the other stats need to about at least 500 to really count toward price. How about we call it the "Rule of Thumb" formula ![]()
Just one comment: I find that pricing is definitely not linear at the extreme. For example, I have just the price difference between 800 and 850 OQ avian meat is no the same as the price difference between 950 and 1000 OQ avian meat.
When you go up really high in stats, like 950+, the pricing goes practically exponential.
I sold some 970 OQ 940 PE avian meat for 80cpu, for example.
