As most of you know mounts were introduced to us last week, and i have recently acquired a Mountian Dewback. Now i thought it was a little slow, so i timed how fast i could run from one end of a small player city to another, and how fastthe dewback/w me could run the same distance. With Wayfaring 4 it took me roughly the same amount of time as it did with the mount. I say roughly because i was using theOneonethousand twoonethousand method. But of the 6 times i ran the test, 30 seconds +-2 seconds. I was wondering if its the same with other pets or are they faster/slower?

I'd like to know myself. Once there are more mounts out I'm going to start challenging people to races. Me on foot vrs their mount. Standard race and burst run race as well.

The true test for finding out how beneficial a mount is versus wafairing is to run up a steep hill. At waifairing 4, I run at the same speed as a carrion spat, supposedly the fastest of the mounts. Seeing as though I've only raced a carrion spat, I can't speak against the other mounts.

isn't it true that after terrain negotiatio +50, it just affect your speed while prone? i mean the first 50 is for actual terrain negotiation. the 51-whatever is for prone speed.

Carrion Spats are the fastest land animal out there for mounts, I ran against one as a Master and it did pull away, I can however outrun a Dewback without a problem.

In the burst run same thing, I canrun as fast as a dewback at its gallop but can not keep up with the Carrion Spat.

Hope this helps.

Sure does. Was that giant carrion spat, or a regular one?

You will notice the speed increase when you use /gallop. It lasts longer than burst run. A run that took me about 30mins when MR now takes me about 10 with my 3 mounts out. I /gallop with one, then as soon as it slows I store it (it cant keep up with my faster mounts gallop) and switch to the slightly faster one. If I require them for longer distances I can use a quick camp and get them all out again. By the time the last one gets tired the first is ready to gallop again.

do you mean you outran the dewback on flat ground or up a hill? if you outran it on flat ground that is sad because that makes mounts seem not so worth it (atleast a dewback, bol, etc.). up a hill its ok to beat a mount cause the TN doesnt affect the mounts uphill/downhill speeds and you should be going faster.

Actually, Kaadu are the fastest mounts.

Surprised me...
