Thread: A new master ranger... My take
Well - you do have some valid points. Not ones that haven't been made here about 12 dozen times already (*yawn*), but valid nevertheless. Camps are not very useful (well, they heal fast, look cool, and you don't have to wait 15 minutes to call a vehicle (but you don't need ranger camps for this)),areatrack is clunky and sometimes misses things, and, yes, traps are a joke....
Well,I'm not sure what you're talking about when you say it will take a long time to collect 'any real resources' -- the HTFB takes what, 50 units of hide, 35 units of bone, and maybe 30 units of metal. Maybe it would take me a long time to get this if I were hunting rasps, but twodecent-sized creatures on even the starter planets drop enough for one htfb and you can get metal at 3 cpu from the bazaar....
But as for not being able to find creatures as quickly as you would like to... well, with every profession there are the skills that you learn with the skill boxes and there are the skills that you learn as you use the profession. One of the skills that most of us master rangers have (and here I'm talking about the old-time master rangers, not the two-to-three week wonders), is that we have learned what areas of what planets are best for what creatures. So, when uber cor. avian or rori avian spawns, we usually do really well because we know where gulginaws or midnight vir vurs like to hang out .Again, this isn't knowledge that is conferred by the skill tree as such, it is knowledge that is gained as you play the profession, and it is this knowledge that makes us master rangers, not our completion of the skill tree.

Yes. I notice a big difference in harvesting when I am harvesting large animals. And I realize it's a percentage difference. But there is no difference between what I can harvest and what someone else with 2 scout skill boxes can do while using BE vegehash. I think that is bad. Very bad.
But lets face it. People (doctors) on most servers are paying BIG money for Avian meat. Upwards of 100 cpu! You would think as a master Ranger you should be able to clean up, with as many skill points are required for the profession.
This is no knock on the profession, believe me. But just like most everything else, they really nerfed the Ranger when they changed other people's professions. The chefs cry, now they make a food that replaces the ranger. People dont want to wait to pull their vehicles out, so who needs a camp?
I have a LOT of respect for those of you who love this profession and choose to play it. You have much more patience than I.

The last part of this post is the only reason i even bothered to reply. The Initial post really made me ask why did he even bother to say anything, if he is just grinding and planned to drop the profession anyways.
