Okay, so I am currently Novice medic, 0030 Ranger, Master Marksman, Master Scout, and Master Bounty Hunter. I am considering dropping bounty hunter, and picking Master Ranger back up. I would want to keep Novice Medic for the stim capabilities, so Novice Medic, Master Scout, and Master Ranger would leave me with 95 points, enough to master any single elite profession.

If I do go this path, what do you think I should take for that profession. I know TKM is quite overpowered and easy to master, but the lack of anything except kinetic damage can be very hurtful in a lot of situations. I was thinking either rifleman or carbineer, and leaning toward carbineer just so I'm not a fotm profession, but I figured I would get some input first. Any suggestions/comments? Thanks

Been a rifleman since november and its a great counterpart to ranger.

As long as you do it smartly, you can solo just about any creature in the game with minimal to no armor and some Vaserian Brandy. Though higher-level mobs like Krayts/Kimos take more patience than I have.

Given that you already have BH, I know that some people like to use the LLC tree with Ranger. Overall, just take what you like best. Any combat master will work. You just need something to kill creatures with. The Ranger skills don't really make that much difference (although Riflemen probably benefit the most from them).

I am gonna say Pistoleer - for the following reasons.

1. Pistols have the widest variety of damages - be it stun, heat, kinetic, blast, acid -- you pretty much cover the spectrum there.

2. Pistols are quick and good close up.

3. You already have a load of Pistol XP.

Case in point for #1 - Fighting the elusive peko albatross this weekend. 90k HAM. TKMs were freaking useless, 100% kinetic resistance, as were the swordsmen/pikesmen and the creature pet attacks did little. They did bother it so the rest of us could shoot it tho. I went with acid, as the resists were lower. My guildie was sniping it, after I concealed him. That was working ok, tho no DOT meant we would be there a long time. I bled it and ran thru a herd of Fambaa. The bird forgot me and ate on them. DOTs helped a lot.

For speed - I can nail off a few thousand damage points in the time it take the rifleman to get off two rounds.

Finally, should the creature close with you, and they do, pistol is decent at close range.

Just my opine. And yes, we got a feather.

JB makes a very valid case for pistoleer. I'm working my way to Master now, after having been a novice for months. The range of weapons is great, and in addition to being able to work things at range and up close, you get some great defense mods. Pistoleers are loaded up on dodge, and high defenses for melee, stun, dizzy and knockdown. I'm 3/0/4/2 right now, and have noticed great benefits, the dodging came in very handy while slapping maimens around this past weekend

I mastered pistoleer first, and I found it extremely effective against critters...being a pistoleer allowed me to be an effective ranger and a fairly effective pvper.

Since then I mastered TKA, and while its usefull, the high kinetic resists that most critters have is usually frustrating.

Swordsman gave me high damage at a decent pace...the defenses were not great, but most things died before they did a lot of damage to me.

Right now im working up my way with fencer (the pistoleer of melee profs) and im having a great time with it.

you, having been a MBH, I would imagine that you are fairly well versed in the tactics of ranged combat and would do very well with either pistoleer or rifleman.

The trick is to find out how you play then pick the weap prof that fits your style best.

After trying out the ranged profs, I am probably going to stick with a melee prof for a while, since my partner in crime is a rifleman
