if (and i think is like that)
the piloting profession is just a normal profession wich subtracts points to the skill cap
ifear that i won t never be able to become a pilot with my ranger...
i mean to do that i would have to drop my rifle master...
and without that (or another combat profssion)
how will i be able to harvest if i can t kill?
this is too bad

For the SE there will be a completely different set of skill points. So, in the air I would be a Combat Fighter Pilot plus whatever and on the ground a Master Ranger/Rifleman.

You speak as though you have special knowledge on this, KaiRaene. Last I heard, that was a possibility, but far from a certainty. Have you heard something more recent?

I cant honestly see them being able to do it otherwise. If you want to dominate in space you will have to have at least one profession if not two. That would leave you weak as a pup on the ground. At E3 they stated the possibiity of more skill points but I could have sworn I found another link that spoke more concretely on the matter.
I guess I should have added the disclaimer: Anything and Everything that is spoken of now in relation to JTL can and most likely will be nerfed, changed, or totally deleted my the devs of SOE. So never ever get your hopes up.

There is a thread in core systems about this. Out of the four new professions only the artisan based one will be taken out of our current skill point system. This is because it also affects the ground game as well as space. The pilot based ones will be on their own. Sorry for no link, perhaps someone else can put it up.

If someone can find that, it would be awesome.
As for the link at Stratics, I'd seen it. I check there at least once every couple of days. I was just wondering if you'd seen anything more concrete than that.
I agree though that unless they want to make people choose between space and ground, (which isn't necessarily a bad idea, but...) that they'd have to separate the points.

WEll from last i heard 2 days ago this is what the devs had said.
"we are not sure right now if the se will have its own set of skill points or if u will have to use the same skill points u have. We might add a few points to your curret skill points or not. There is much talk about this between all the devs and we have yet to come up with a working system for this at this time. We will focus on that during the next few weeks and during beta trails."
That is basicly what the was said in an iterview not sure what one maybe ign or a dif one to many to keep up this week... But that sounds more likly that we will not know untill beta how the system will work if the devs are not sure. Each dev is saying what they would like to happen but as a whole they have not come to a system on that so there will be much talk on the boards with this dev said that and this one said that. But What ever dev said what i posted i would take that becuase there leaves much area for them to work on it.

If they just added skill points you would see Master Swordsman, Master Doctor, and Master Rifleman all bunched together. They almost "have" to seperate the points. This way I could be a Master Ranger/Doctor/Master Rifleman and be the uber solo man.
Well, when Ranger gets Uber it will be uber but til the I will be just ub.

cant say i am not happy if i would be able to pilot with my actual ranger/rifleman
but with separates point this means: everyone will be a pilot
but after all... what s wrong with that?
if you buy the space expansion it s not cool to not be able to use that ![]()
and since it s a twich based thinghie i think it as a some sort of mini-game inside (a very very cool minigame)

if the combat is really "twitch (or how the hell is said) based" it doesn matter how many skill points you have (or.. better... if you can fly both a decent ship) it s just all dipendent by the pilot skill..
and as you can see in battlefield there are great differences between noobfliers and pros
