Thread: Please tell me why bots can harvest like a master ranger.

This really ticks me off. A guild mate has a bot with 108+ creature harvesting yet rangers harvest at around 115ish with vegash!

This is really lame. Bots should not be master level harvesters! Some say that bots should exceed human capability but this is very un-SW. Bots should not be able to make master qualityanything. Imagine a bot letting any player make T-21's or composite armor. I really think this needs to be adjusted.

The bot only adds a bonus to your harvesting. It doesn't replace your mod. A Novice Scout with a +108 harvesting bot and veghash will not outharvest a Master Ranger without any aids. Think of it as a +110 med bot.

Um, you're an idiot.

The bots give a bonus to your harvesting skills (you still need to have novice scout to use the bot). Why don't you go buy a harvest bot. Could you imagine what a Master Ranger would harvest then?

Well a +110 medbot doesn't give you all the bonuses of a Doctor - you have to have the skills first.

The problem with this is that the harvesting *skill* is identical from novice Scout to master Ranger, so the bot/veghash effectively gives you all of our useful skills for 15 skill points instead of over 100, and that's not good.

Imagine if there were a rifle that a novice Marksman could use that did all the damage with the speed of a master Rifleman. That idea wouldn't get past the planning stage, because there are enough Riflemen to raise a stink about it. We got steamrolled because all the people who need organics just needed MORE organics, and SOE didn't seem to pay attention to the class that was meant to help with that.

They were very high and mighty about not giving a profession something that "nerfs" other professions (just look in the Smuggler forums, for instance) but suddenly they're implementing droids that can do our jobs, and Image Designers get the monopoly on stat migration!

Again, you have no idea what you are talking about either. Harvest droids are not stealing your guys jobs, they give you a bonus to your current harvesting ability, so a Master Ranger that is using a 106 rated Harvesting Droid will harvest around an additional 30% more.

Your analogy is way off with the rifle also. Also a +110 med bot doesn't give you any bonuses, its just a rating system. Such as how crafting stations and crafting tools are rated.

This is the case. The droids simply augment your harvesting ability.

You can, however, at scout level harvest as if at MR level. A MR + droid harvests still even more then this, but the benifit is less, relatively.

The only sour bit is you don't need MR any more to harvest like one.

I think the numbers work like this:

Scout + droid -> increase from say 15 hide to 22 hide.
Ranger + droid -> increase from 24 hide to 28 hide.

7 more for scout, 4 more for ranger. Not really sure if any other way is fair, nor am I sure this is fair. For me, droid is overhead I can live without. Might not be true of a scout.

Ranger is not a profession. It's a lifestyle.

True, if you are harvesting little creatures its a waste to use the bots. But if you are harvesting Enraged Rancor, for example, the bonus is well worth it then.

Idd.

Also we have to remember that these driods do not fix the problem of scouts killing the larger critters bigger because of skill points they have invested in combat professions and therefore harvesting more over time. In fact these driods make the problem worse because now they can harvest more off a single critter.
