Normally not a negative person but HAD to vent to my fellow rangers... (sigh) here's my lament:

I'm on the Lowca server, walking around Lok. What do I stumble across? A giant dune kimogila. So I check it out... level 153, HAM of 81150... so what do I do but fight it! lol

Many, many, many conceal shots later and an actual time of about 2 hrs it dies... I soloed it. Small cheer erupts from me. But wait.. here's my "reward:"

4120 rifle xp

410 combat xp

some leathery hide

NO LOOT

Does this seem right to y'all? Never fought something that huge before so was wondering... but pretty much will never fight anything like this again if it's like that encounter... LAME!

Any input (other than "quit your whining") will be appreciated... like I said, had to vent!

Yep.... I and another fellow took care of a krayt dragon that was ...*ahem* stuck on a harvestors. Measily XP and hides. I dont know if he got any loot but I sure didnt. I have fought several Ancient Bull Rancors and only once came away with a run of the mill ubese shirt. Whoopee!

well the resources andloot are pretty much your only reward. A Krayt Dragon last I was in a hunt still had 600 hide on it, so that's worth a little effort, not to mention 2K trapping XP per hit and 2K scouting per harvest, though that's not very useful to Master Rangers of course. The loot can be good, but since it's supposed to be good, it can't be common, you were just not lucky enough to get anything this time but the probably significant amount of hides, define 'some'.

XP you can never expect to get a lot of, it's sort of an exploit killer. If people with the ability to solo a Krayt Dragon (which the devs have stated before NO ONE under NO circumstance should be able to achieve by themselves) would get XP equivalent to HAM killed and time spent, they'd do nothing else and master their profession way faster then they should. As it is, the huge animals are there to provide group-worthy adversaries and hunting tales more interesting then the butchering of many kamuriths. Cause you gotta admit one thing, killing that huge animal by yourself made you feel proud about yourself and your use of available skills, THAT's why you kill em.

You are not supposed to solo a Kimogila!

Put it another way, because you are not supposed to solo a Kimogila, the rewards are such that you probably won't bother again.

It's not like one can effectively solo using /concealshot. 2 hours! d&mn, I would not last that long. You must have gotten lucky or stopped every so often to escape the chance to set a bleed. I would have punched a hole in the wall if after 1hr, 59m the bleed set and it aggro'd. I knew this already, btw. /concealshot is for hunting, really big game like this is best left to a party (and sadly, to ninja looters).

btw, I have hunted these things in a co-op group and no loot. NS, Krayt... all the same, loot is very rare, no matter how you do it. H3ll, I have yet to see a NS bracelet, let alone anything actually useful to me. On the other hand I got many, many vortor and rancor loot drops.

wow - two hours! would it be any consolation if we inducted you into the ranger hall of fame for "most-time (or maybe least time) spent solo'ing a giant dune kimo."

Seriously, it would be sort of cool if you could at least get a badge or something when you take out one of the game's epic monsters that said "helped take down a giant dune kimo" or "helped defend tatooine settlers (and their harvesters lol) from a krayt dragon."

Well first off the drop rate for GDK is borked. From what I have heard it's about 1 in 30. The scales sell for 3 to 5 mill on my server and up to 10 mill on the old servers. There is really no surprise you didn't get one. Not to be mean or anything, it's just the facts.

Also, Regular Kimogila, and Dune Kimogila can easily be soloed. They have only ~50K hams, and deal less than 100 damage with 80% kinetic comp. As long as your buffed these die easily. And I am a carbineer, so If I can take them anyone can. I have combat friends that solo GDKs all the time (master doc/master heavy sword, and master doc/TKM). They don't even worry about the wicked disease. I wouldn't but they can.

Krayts should not be soloable (the above two people can though). The three of us took out some Giant Canyon Krayts last night, and it took about 30 min each.

I guess what I am trying to say, is that all the ub3r loot wouldn't be special if it droped all the time cause there are always people who can kill anything. Rangers just have a hard time of it because of our skill points that we use.

Anyhow, Congrats on your trophy kill I sure wish we could mount them on the wall of our house.

Fellow rangers,

After reading the aforementioned posts I now feel better about the trophy kill! Since I've only been playing since March and have been concentrating on being a Master Ranger that entire time I can now savor the trophy kill for what it was... and appreciate it.

So thank you.

I just felt bad because a Master Armorsmith was standing, watching me... asking me all about the scales. So he made it sound like I'd get one for sure... my newness took this to heart.

So thanks once again! You've all been very kind and brought me out of my pity party... lol!

I soloed a Kimogila, and kept the 450 hides seperate. I'm having a nice snazzy suit made, or something. You can get tropies, if you look

No I don't have a freakin sig. Just make something up and pretend it's here man. woman. umm...Whatever.
