Ranger Archive

Normally, I play a smuggler. Been a master for well over a year. However, after storming the thousandth Blood Razor camp on Lok, John Woo style, one might decide to try something different.

Unwilling to alter my smuggler, I opted to give SOE some more of my hard-earned money and got a second account. I've been grinding through Ranger and Rifleman. Rifleman isn't quite so fun thus far (note my aforementioned tendency to charge into camps John Woo style), but Ranger... this has possibilities.

Not once, but twice so far I've freaked friends out by setting up a field base around them while they are meditating after a skirmish. They thought it was some sort of NPC camp and the mobs are about to start spawning all around them. This is just the "regular" field base, I'm looking forward to springing the high tech version on some unsuspecting sod. Guess I got a little bit of a mean streak from being a smuggler so long.

Now, if only Rifleman would give me a few giggles...

I can see how they might be a bit freaked. Especially since Rangers aren't exactly the most popular profession, so not as many people have ever seen a Field Base. Just don't do it too often, or it'll ruin the surprise of the HTFB.

rifleman only gives you giggles at Master, but they are among the best giggles in the game.

I remember in October 2003 when I was searching for the mark ofIntellect spawn on Tatooine (before the Hero of Tatooine quests were updated), I came across a High Tech Field Base, and no Ranger. I thought I found the spawn, I was so happy, but I was distressed that no NPCs were present. It was only later that I realized I founda Ranger camp.
