Thread: Solo rifleman to leave CH for ranger?

Hi rangers,

Please see my sig for details.

As a solo-inclined master rifleman/master creature handler, I am wondering if I should swap CH for ranger. I have done some meat contracts and seem to end up not pulling my pets any more. As a speed capped RM I seldom have real need for pets, although tanking higher-level mobs they are handy, especially my gaping spider queen (65%kinetic resist).

I am not a grinder, I never PvP.

So, should I dump the pets and join you guys?

Greetings from Sweden.

P.S. Yes, I see the stickies, have read about the different templates. Just asking anyway

If what you want is hunting and harvesting, you can have master ch, master rifleman and ranger 0040 giving all the harvesting bonuses except that of master ranger and are left a single spare skillpoint.

If you tend to be buffed the camps are useless and a high level pet is going to be more useful to you than trapping. You might miss the camo kits. Personally I'm too lazy to make them most of the time but when I need good cover they are great.

If you're a speed-capped rifleman, you really don't need pets. Or doc buffs and armor. You really don't even need concealshot until you take onElders or Krayts.

Portable buffs are really handy to keep HAM costs down. My snack consists of 1 Gruuvan Shaal, 1 Accarragm, 1 Vasarian Brandy, and 2 Ahrisa. I still need to stim, but not quite as often. (Maybe every 5 critters as opposed to every pair.)

The nice thing about running this way is that you will havealmost nodown-timeor town-time. Hunt a resource shift for an entire week without seeing another soul. Or getting wounded. Or even hit. Crank up the eye candy and have a ball.

I was Master Ranger and Master Pistoller and had enough skill points for 0/0/0/3 CH , which got me a bio engineered level 19 pet, still got them in my data pad actually. One is 8.5k health, the other is 9.5k health, they have light armour and 60% kinetic resistance. They are Gurrecks which run fast so would happily keep up with my X34. They could take a huge beating, so great for letting me stand back and pop away with my pistol. I could only have one out at a time, but it did mean that if I ran out of stim b's then I had a fresh cat waiting.

EDIT: so you would not have to give up your pets entirely

TalKurgan, your quote at the end of your posts just made me shoot Fresca out my nose.

Not completely true: armor and buff save time, when doing rancor missions for instance. And, if you want to do some Janta missions really fast, armor is good to have.

Oh yes, a good rifleman never lets the victim to know what hit it... more sophisticated but more time-consuming.
