Those big snakes that are bloody everywhere. At least, they were everywhere when I was hunting for avian meat. Now you'll probably find nothing but flits. Those critters all seem to know when their hides/meat are worth something.

Gurnasets. Kimos are best. Perleks also SNORBALS (inside joke) gurks. where on lok.........Server dependant.

ok, my player city is on lok, so i do lots of hunting there, mostly around my city trying to keep the poor crafters safe from the ferral gurk or kimogilla chasing them. so i know a thing or two about lok.
I'm a little hesitant to type this, as it's kind of my little secret trick of the trade, but hey, we're all fellow rangers here, so it's ok.
The absolute best source of Lokian Leathery hide is this:
Find a lair called "a nest" that spawns any type of gurk, but make sure it also spawns Ferral Gurks. They are the tell-tale sign of good things to come.
These random spawn lairs will typically spawn 20-30 assorted gurks per lair. I have Tracking 4, and i harvest at least 100 units of hide per gurk, except those pesky Gurk Whelps, they average about 80 or so.
But here's the added bonus for going to the trouble of finding the Ferral Gurks.
It's been my experience that roughly 19 out of every 20 lairs that meet the above requirements will spawn a Reclusive Gurk King. He's the money maker. You can harvest over 200 units of hide off of him, and there is also the chance of looting Reclusive Gurk King Hides (which is a component of RIS armor)
When the gurk King spawns, you'll typically either get some Shaggy Gurk Youths, or some Crazed Gurk Destroyers spawn at the same time, and they'll all instantly aggro you (when you're not cammoed, and since i'm a TKM, i rarely cammo, i just go toe to toe with almost anything). These higher end gurks will also drop a good portion of hide as well.
ok, now you all know my leathery hide secret. using this method, i can get roughly 50k of lokian leathery hide in a 3 hour buff. and when i turn around and sell it for 50cpu, that's a nice 2.5 million credits in 3 hours.
