Thread: Harvesting Suddenly Cut In Half...Any Ideas?

Hello, I'm a 3/0/4/1 Ranger, 4/04/0 Brawler, Novice Artisan, Novice Medic, 2/1/1/2 TKA and 2 or 3/0/4/3 Swordsman. I had been hunting Mamiens on Yavin and getting 22 wooly hide froma non-mission mamien youth and about 55-65 from non-mission mamien males/females, I had beena 3/0/4/2 Swordsman and saw that I qualified for the 3rd box that'd allow me to try out a scythe which I did as I had never used one before and wanted to check it out. I get a scythe, go back to yavin and first thing I notice is that the male/female mamiens are no longer white, they are green, still get practically the same exp though but as soon as I harvest one I get about half the hide I had been, in all cases they were fat and healthy both before and after. Switch back to TKA fighting in case it was something about using the Scythe but same thing. Does anyone have any idea what is going on and why after getting that 1 box I'm suddenly back to harvesting like a novice scout? Thanks.

Did the reduced harvesting happen after the Patch today? If so, /bug it and put your information in the Publish 11 bug thread. If not, I am stumped.

No it was last night, the only thing that changed was I left the planet, trained, looked for a scythe, found one, got a buff, went back and then my harvesting was halved.

I would check to see if you are still getting low harvests (preferably against someone else with the same harvest rating). If you are, let me know.

Ok, just tried it again, everything seems to be fine now, not harvesting the amount I was but youthsare only 2 less and the male/female mamiens are about 5-7 less. Oh well, that's better than about 30 less, thanks for the reply Calculus.

The same exact thing happened to me last night. I went from consistently getting 60-70 units of hide from various mamiens to only getting 30-40. The hide just shifted the day before(that's why I was hunting on yav in the first place), so it wasn't a new shift screwing things up. I thought maybe my fairly high BF was reducing my harvest, though I don't remember that ever happening before. Does BF mess with harvest, a la medicine use? If not, I guess it was just a bug. Haven't been on today, but hopefully harvests are back to normal.
So, when are we gonna get a bug that doubles harvest rates for a while instead of halving them?

Did you get trained by a player or an NPC trainer? If you got trained by a player did you disband from the group before you went back hunting? That is the only thing from your post that I can see that would change your harvesting rate.

Yeah I had been trained by a player and I did disband, even if I hadn't it still wouldn't cut it in half though, from what I understand it's about a 25% reduction. Not much telling what happened, going by one of the replies it wasn't just the Chimaera server where it happened either.

There is a grouping bug where you are stuck at grouped harvest yields. It's been notoriously difficult to pin down the exact sequence that causes this, but it does happen. When they tested for the pet or droid group, and allowed 100% when only those were in your group, I had thought that this was fixed, finally.... perhaps not?

Ah, don't know where I got around 25% from then but doing the calculations it appears that the bug mentioned is exactly what happened. The mamien youths had been giving 22 but were only giving 13 and that is exactly 40%. Thanks for all the replies, next time I log in I'll submit a /bug report about it, maybe they'll finally get it fixed one of these days.

I think Duckfat and Fred are right. This happened to me about a week or so ago. I grouped with someone to train them, un-grouped, but I was harvesting as though I was still grouped. The next day after I logged on, my harvesting rate went back to normal. And, since you said the spawn shift had happened the day before without any affect to your harvesting, that would explain it. Hopefully next time you log in you will be harvesting at the regular rate again.
