Hi,

I'm currently working out a template for my newchar when I unlockit in a few weeks time.Currently Iwas thinking of the following...

Master Rifleman (I've done all the melee proffs, time for a change)

Ranger 0030 (for area track and harvest bonus)

Master Scout

Artisan 0003 (so I can mine as well as harvest)

Medic 2100 (will always fight buffed, but just in case I have to run and heal)

Novice Entertainer (for healing bfin camp and playing a song when I'm stuck out in the wilderness)

As well as being usefull for harvesting/mining I would like him to be able to take down 'big game' e.g. Elders if he finds them.

Is just Master Rifleman going to be good enough for this, are there any other Ranger branches that may make him more successfull at staying concealed ?

Thanks for any ideas

Only wounds can be healed in camps, not BF, unless I'm mistaken...which I believe I am not.

Also, the first line of Ranger is for concealment. Camo Kits seems to be working better now then ever before. Camo Kits also conceal against NPC's whereas Mask Scent only conceals you from critters.

Most of the Rangers in this forum do well with big game hunting with [Combat Profession]/Master Ranger, and many have some Medic as well. It all comes down to playstyle though. Personally, I don't think Rifleman/Ranger combo could ever be replaced by anything better...of course, ask me how I feel after the Combat Revamp.

yeah, rifleman/ranger is great, but you MAY need a tank for high lvl stuff...just cause rifle is ranged and NS are usually melee

Yeah, but riflemen get concealshot.

Artisan is useless. I have had harvestors since I figured out I hated to buy stuff. No artisan at all. None, zero. I drop them where I can find em easily and take whatever is most prevalent. Why waste 15 points just to be able to survey.

Medic. Um... my bleed defense clothing is decent. I have novice medic only. That's it. Right now I can use Bs. In the future who knows? Anything more is fluff.

Ok, freed up a lot of points.

Oh wait. Can't heal BF in camps, even if you are an entertainer. Another 15 points saved.

but conceal and concealshot only gives you about 20 shots vs an elder...trust me...one of the numerous rips in my ranger coat will tell you that

Odd. I used to take them down without too much trouble as a Rifleman. They have quite low energy resists. The only reason they should attack you if you use concealshot is if you get too close or you cause a bleed. If you cause a bleed, you can try to get away before it ticks. If you get too close, that's what the terrain negotiation is for. Although I haven't been a rifleman for a while now. I'm not sure what it's like now but it used to work quite nicely.

Were you a rifleman back before npcs did specials?

I think a rifleman could still solo one, but if they pull a stun baton... run, lol.

I never got one was a Rifleman/Ranger, but Rifleman/CM is a different story.

I was a rifleman back before NPCs lost their specials (and I think they got them back shortly before I dropped it, even though that's not related). With concealshot, they shouldn't ever do specials, though. And I used to be able to concealshot them. I also used to use bleed kiting for the ones that were resistant to all my damage types (that was fun--run around with a nice mind bleed and then finish them off with an uncerted grenade). They occasionally would use something like force knockdown or mindblast but I was usually far enough ahead that I was out of range.
