Thread: Camping Suggestion

It really bugs me (and I am sure a lot of you) that camps aren't as neccesary as they once were. I just wanted ask for your opinions on an idea I had to make camps more usefull in this day and age -it may or may not have beeen suggested before but I couldn't find a reference to it so if it has sorry.


As most of you will be aware city's can have a medical centrestatus which provides a 200-300 bonus on buffing which is the FoTM city type on my server. I thought it would be a nice touch to add this to high level (only highest?) ranger camps.I dont know how this will fit in with the Combat revamp and the shadow hanging over the head of buffing in general but, given our revamp won't be until after these changes take place, I thought I'd see what you guys thought.

Useful idea, but balancing it out against the cities that have a medical specialisation, they need to have a med centre, what makes the camp able to give a 'boost' to buffs?

A couple of recent suggestions have been to allow entertainers in camp to heal BF or to allow camps to give some sort of protection form buffs dropping. If not a freeze on the timer at least a slow down. The logic behind these are that, inthe first case, a profession brings the skill, we're just giving a new venue. In the second case, the camp is viewed as somewhere that you go to be safe, relax, rest up. So your buffs should decay slightly slower than when you're out there hashing and bashing about.

Perhaps a module could be designed to be added to the proposed modular camps? Something a doctor could bring to a camp and 'donate' it in the same way that you can donate faction installations to a base? Course, teh temporary nature of camps is problematical in this as, can you imagine being the doc that's just paid to have a module made, is looking forward to buffing a hunt party in field and earning some credits, and the camp puffs out?

Niceideaon a module of some sort that can be added to camps to allow the medical bonus. Whether its something Doctors can craft themselves (easier) or can be bought from another proffesion (hey they are all rich anyway eh?) As long as the modules were easy to make and therefore technically cheaper I don't think this would pose a problem. A similar exampleas thingscurrently standwould beDocs and bivoli food.


As for the camps puffing out - As I said I dont find much use for camps at the mo so you'll have to forgive me if I ask what the rough duration of the highest level camp is?In a way there relatively short life span might be a good thing as I wouldn't want to see these camps become a venue for Docs buffing strangers outside Coronet or Theed.More a way of buffing a hunt party of 5 or 6 for high level mobs.

Anyone else have any thoughts on this? I really like this idea the more I think about it but would be intrested to know whether its even a remote possibility.
