The other day i took one of my newer guildmembers on an unbuffed/no vehicle hunt.

I forgot how much i enjoyed this game when i'm out in the wilderness with nothing but a camp and a few stims to keep me alive.

Anyone else miss these days? I had a thrill teaching the member the way of the land.

"See that red dot? could mean one of two things...it's someting really mean, or a kreetle....either way you're gonna end up really annoyed."

*Tuskin Warlord shows up* "Okay......you'd better run now, i'll take on this guy...."

Ahh... the good ol' days...
When camps meant something.

I remember when my guildmates and I were all noobs. We'd hunt, camp... hunt, camp. And then we came upon a Tusken. It kicked our asses pretty hard... but we managed to limp away. Then we all tried to do a 'Surprise' attack and have everyone attack at once. Needless to say that about 5 noobs got DB'd by one Tusken.

Man I miss that kind of thrill...

I wish i had been playing back then.

i started Feb of 2004, so buffs and good armor were sort of common place. rare to hunt in groups. i would occasionally run into someone leveling up marksman in the feilds of theed where i was leveling, (unbuffed for that) and we'd start to get gutsy and go search for some Kaadu. usually they'd get the better of us though.

Unlike most players, i started out in Theed. A real life friend that got me into SWG gave me a free house on Naboo outside theed, so i did most of my beginning stuff around the theed area, so i don't have as much hatred for the Kreetle as most do. I spend as little time as i can on that large dust ball.

I was about to do one of those unbuffed posts actually. This is a good way to start it.

Lately my guilds been growing and we have been hunting as a group nightly. Its been fun to remember what this game was, and still is, like.

It's good to remember the good days of being a noob...
The good thing is that even though I'm much stronger than what I used to be... my guild mates and I go after bigger things. Still don't camp as much as we used to... what with buffs and all.

But it's great cos we just run and use mounts now... instead of just swoopin' all over the place.

I figure the game is still the way it used to be... I've just changed. Not that I'm trying to be profound or anything. LOL.

I've just started to play unbuffed and it's an amazing experience. SO much more of a challenge than being a comp wearing 3K HAM tank that just spams the top damage special. I have a cat to do some tanking (and get CH xp atm), but when it all goes wrong the challenge is really on. And I've stopped using my bike all the time too.

I ran 4km across Tat the other night to get 3 POI badges (got diseased by the Sarlaac, as always!) and at one point I just stopped and looked at the scene... the twin suns were just starting to set, the sand looked warm and inviting so I sat down, pet'd my cat 4 times till he eventually got the hint and watched as the breeze swayed the little tufts of grass. Some rill were just running about on the dunes and I just watched them, like some wildlife documentary on TV, and I thought.. wow, this game is something else, if you let it be. If you stop and take it all in once in a while.

There was no spam, no griefing, no pwning, no buffs... no need for me to slaughter everything in 64m around me for a few crummy xp. There was just an experience to be had.

Ok, it's 3.45am... I am having an attack of Rangerness.. I'm off to bed!

Dureena - I lived in a special place for a while. It was made special by those I knew, butclosest to my heart wereEmekaf and Viridian, I will never forget you both /blowkiss

I think it's time for me to enter the wilderness and enjoy my gametime again.

Walking from one side of the planet to the other diagonally is quite an interesting experience.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

When I left radiant for my current home of Naritus last june, a friend of mine was leaving the game. She gave me her house on naboo, so that's where I started my climb. As I experimented with fencer, swordsman, and finally TK, all the gualamas in theNW learned to fear the name al-djinn'i. Well, except the dappled ones, at first. They tended to stand over my incapped body and laugh. But who's laughing now?

As Master Swordsman i have a hard time fighting unbuffed.
Not really the problem that the creatures hurt me too much, because i got pretty good
defense stats, but i tend to hurt myself more than the creatures do

I was on Naboo about a week back, without buff and armor. Run into a Fambaa that didnt
really like me much, and in true old habit i went for the classical single creature
takedown with head hit, and then mind hit. 3 Swings and i was out of almost all pools

First time in a very long time i have had to run from something on Naboo

I tend to run away a lot these days on Dantooine and Dathmoir though...so its not a strange feeling
DJM's and Nightsisters....they dont like me very much
