Hello Ranger community. I am not a ranger, but that doesn't stop me from trying to help yas. Anyway I just wanted to give an idea to you rangers here for a quest idea i had. It is highly possible its been said before but hopefully not in as much detail. Hopefully this thread might get stickied if it gets big enough .

--The First Quest Idea: Game Wardens--

Game wardens can be placed in npc cities. Basically they are similiar to junk dealers except that instead of accepting random junk for credits they accept "valuable creature drop" items for credits.

I beleive that the art-department would need to design some new loot and programmers might have to create additional creature variations possibly for parts of the idea. It might take a while but I beleive the satisfaction and randomness will make people happy.

However like junk dealers they offer quests of their own. Their quests could involve these two types with exsisting game mechanics:

TYPE 1: Hunt (find and kill creature)
TYPE 2: Tame (find and tame creature)

WHO IT BENEFITS: Bio-engineers, Organic Reasource needers, Rangers, Scouts, Creature Handlers.

Sounds basic, but read on for the real quest details.

HUNT QUEST:

Opening: The warden says that he has a few special requests for a certain type of loot. He then gives you 5 difficulty levels, Novice Scout, Intermediate Scout, Master Scout, Experienced Eliete, and Master Eliete. Once you pick the difficulty there is a range of certain level creatures within the range that is randomly choosen depending on planet. Now depending on the difficulty level, you are given a random waypoint then waypoints continue in that fashion, which are rewarded after each random event. Master Scout and higher difficulties, you are given a waypoint but it only leads you just enough to use the "Track" ability and successfully find an accurate waypoint. This is done by adding a "ledgend" category of creatures to track. Approaching a given waypoint will trigger your next random event or if you are using track getting to your next accurate waypoint will trigger the next event.

EVENT 1 RANDOM POSSIBILITIES: Farthest from creature

1. A small group of hunters ambush you in an attempt to get the prize before you. However reducing their ham to a certain point makes them passive, and then you can interrogate one of them for your next waypoint.
2. A bunch of aggressive creatures spawn surrounding you and attempt to kill you. After defeating them you are given another waypoint. If difficulty is higher than master scout you must use the "track" ability again.
3. *If you choose master hunter difficulty* then possibly an incredibly tough hunter attempts to kill you. He will dissappear upon defeat.

EVENT 2 RANDOM POSSIBILITES: Medium

1. Retreats into a small randomly spawned dungeon (no overhead map but very small and simple) and players must enter it and eventually fight a "primary minion" underling of the creature. Upon defeating it quest holder gains an item called "sweet-smelling meat" (someting like that) or a random valuable creature drop.

2. If you did get a lure then a random "marker" spawns within a few steps from leaving the random dungeon, like the jedi shrine mechanic. If you drag the lure out of your inventory onto the marker then the ledgend spawns there.

3. If you did not get sweet smelling meat or some kind of lure then you must fight yet another pod of hunters.

END

Only if you didnt get a lure, otherwise you would have ended it already .

IF you didnt get the lure you must track the creature again or after defeating the hunter pod you receive your last waypoint. Then you simply kill it and claim the "valuable creature drop".

----------------

You then return to the game warden. You have two choices. First choice is to give him your "valuable creature drop" item and receive the full payment. Second choice is to take no payment and keep your "valuable creature drop".

-----------------

The uses of valuable creature drops could be the following:

1. A new displayalbe loot. (easiest to impliment)
2. Depending on stats that come with it you can use it for a random use. Examples are armor, weapons, furniture, buildings, etc.

-----------------

This is just a very rough idea that I came up with that could use some good refining. I made this thread also in response to the dev thread for "star-warsy" quests and points of interest. I mainly made it for idea gathering though. Feel free to ask questions if you don't understand some parts so I can go back and improve. Post your ideas too.

TAME QUEST

This is a lot simpler than the hunt quest. The warden wants some creatures to be found. He gives you a certain type of creature to find and tame. However the catch is that he gives you some random amount, like 5 for instance. You search for these creature and tame them. However at halfway mark of the amount you need to tame, in this example 3.

--Approach by a faction member--

It will either be an imperial npc or a rebel npc (duh). He will ask you to give him your found creatures for the war effort and offers you an award. This could be faction points, a randomly generated weapon with a special bleed, or perhaps a speical set of faction armor just for doing this quest type. If you accept the quest ends.

--Return to the warden--

The warden will then ask which organization you want to donate the animals too. You can turn them in for 2 times their normal meat, bone, or hide drop per creature and gain that, or you can turn them in for Bio-engineer samples.

I loved AO's lairs were really fun IMHO

Star Wars - Published 1977 written by George Lucas (Allegedley) ISBN 0-7221-5669-3
' "Your father's lightsabre," Kenobi told him. "At one time they were widely used. Still are in certain galactic quarters.'

Explanation for only Jedi PCs using them is .....?

It would be really cool if Rangers could take thropies from the creatures they kill.

And more hunting quests like the Bol skull one. Things like that make it much more fun.

Maby some more Ranger specific clothing.
