Thread: Why must I be taunted so?

I love Ranger. I've loved the climb and I loved going out there and hunting.

I'm even working on a Ranger Cabin and I can't see giving it up.

And now I'm 4344.

I'm so close I can smell it.

I'm almost there... save for the camping tree.

It's so cool to see all those skillboxes colored in... but I'm just being taunted now.

It's saying: "Ha Ha!! You still have 50k left. And it's CAMP XP!! BWA HA HA HA"

*sigh* I really want a HTFB... good thing I can use 'em anyway. I just want to make my own though....

Joining the ranks of Masters will make my day that's for sure.

I feel your pain. I just finished fronteering II the other night after slowly working that box for the last month and a half, since i refuse to grind it. now I am a 4/2/4/4 ranger. I believe I will weep openly when I complete it, my wife will commit me to a mental hospital I know it.

Fishing when done right brings in XP MUCH faster than camping. I have a 99.0 pole though As you stand you have 10 points to spend on experimention when you build the pole so make your own. It only depends on Unit Toughness so it's not hard to find good stuff.

PS you can't be in your camp and fish at the same time... it pushes out the water too far

The fishing guide in the FAQs tells every thing you need to know. Once you get into the rythem of it its kinda fun. Don't forget to empty you inventory first! You'll need it all. lol

I think I got 50% of my survival xp in one **** fish * vegitaion spot on Rori.

Actually you can fish from your camp...well....technically *in* it. I'm not sure whether it's intended but it makes "powerfishing" much easier. Has anyone else noticed that the fishing strings (CS term not the actual string) seemed to have been messed up in the latest patch? Now you get something like: fishing[cast] and fishing[strong_bite], fishing[good_filet] etc. I actually had an interesting experience today -- my first cast with my 100 rod I caught a 6-sided dice. Had never gotten one before, and seems to be contrary to what's said in a couple of the fishing guides. Another couple observations I made since achieving Ranger yesterday:

Foraging +5 helps immensely with finding stuff. I went from 1/10 to probably 9/10 successful attempts.

I believe you can forage any of the goods from any planet, however you're limited to 5 items within a certain time period (a minute or two) and you can actually reach a point where you're "must rest before foraging again."

BTW agent -- I'm not surewhether fishing can bring in more xp than camping.....I only around 70-150 xp per filet. However it is alot of fun! =)

How? I have tried it with every camp/field base. If I stand so close to the edge of the camp that so mutch as twitching gets me the "you are leaving..." message and do /fish I get the "you must be with in 2 meters to begin fishing..." message. Either something has changed or everone that recomends it has never tried it, lol.

As for it being faster... well I need to play the skillpoint game for a few days any way, I'll drop the last box of the last box of frontiering and come back with some numbers.

Oh ya another thing, you don't get xp for fileting the fish you get it for chatching them.

True the xp is for the catch. I think it's one of the fishing guides that says you can deploy a tent while riding your bike...by doing this you create a "flooded tent". I wouldn't recommend sleeping in it however. Whether you choose to use this or not is up to you....

Also thinking on it, I suppose if you deployed on land you could run back and forth between the camp/river and still maintain the camp. Maybe I'll try this and see whether it works.

Flooded tent, lol. Wow, and no one's figured out how to hot key disband, but you can flood your tent. Ya I though about the runing back and forth but if you want to get through that bad - craft macro, haha.

I did manage to make a flooded fishing camp twice a while ago, on the edge of the island in the middle of the Lake Retreat lake, on Naboo. There was a spot on the spit between the two islands that if you stood on it with your ankles in the water you could put up a field base with soggy seating.

I managed to do this on two successive evenings, back when quite a few of my guild were heavily into fishing and we'd gather at the Lake Retreat for fishing competitions, then came back a week later and never managed to put up a sunken camp again

There's an excellent spot for 'flooded camps' just off the NW shore of Naboo, right up in the top left of the map above Theed. Nide shallow beaches... good fishing. Trick is to watch for an underwater 'causeway' or a little sand bar that 'just' breaks the surface of the water.

Just sit there, in camp, fishing away, watching the peko peko albatross flatten another ST patrol...

Life is good.

Ya, it's nice to have another useless tent in our inventory. It's even better when you pull one in the rain and it leaks, LOL!!!!
