I have just posted a lengthy missive on the Force Sensitivity forums about how badly the FS system has been set up in relation to the Ranger.
I'm not looking to be jedi - I just want to use FS skills to enhance my Ranger template and my survival skills in particular, but the whole system is ludicrous and doesn't allow me to use any scouting XP to do it.
Please read the thread in the FS forum that I've linked to here and show your support. The combat tanks aren't interested and no-one is really complaining but for our profession, it's a major problem. Please stand united with me!
Thanks

Well, I don't.
You may have got there before but as I say, I'm not a grinder, so I've only just discovered this.
It's ludicrous and needs to be changed.

Same boat as fodder realy. When they first got added we spent a long time discussing these. Very unlickely anything is going to be added/removed now though.

Added my support to that thread. Also, having read that, +1 on my Jadedness in relation to the devs.

Surely the fact that a Ranger can't even unlock the trees that use Ranger (Sense) XP is something that needs fixing?

I have to disagree.
I dropped medic for about two hours. Got novice artisan. Went and did the "go find me this stuff" quest to unlock Luck. Watched all kinds of Artisans get ate by monsters on Dath. I used maskscent, did the quest in an hour. Got a tool I will never use again. Dropped artisan, regained medic. Have a tree to use my scout xp in.
Didn't take a rocket scientist to figure that out. In an average week I get two to three times the pistol xp as I do scout, only because scout is lower than pistol on the things I hunt. Forget trapping xp, at 25-1 I don't care what I have, I just go with what I got. Wilderness survival is mainly from making traps, as I won't macro.
I do find it funny that pistol xp is used to bolster my scouting tree tho.

Just so I had something to spend my scouting/wilderness survival xp on I took up novice medic, did the village healing quest, and dropped medic again. It's a useless FS skill since I'm not a medic or an entertainer, but at least I have something to spend my Ranger xp on! However, if it did +5 medical use without having novice medic (like the surveyor and survival FS branches) then it would be useful.
I agree it's funny that I improve FS Scouting with combat/weapons xp, but my Ranger scouting xp will only improve Artisan/Entertainer/Medic FS skills. Maybe it's the devs way of reigning in the awesome powers that is Ranger... come on, we knew the free ride had to end sometime right

No wait, I got it! This is just a sign of what the devs really have in store for us, with the CURB we will join the ranks of Artisans, Entertainers, and Medics and become a true support profession. Our role will be to craft creature resources, and sit in a nice fancy camp keeping the fire stoked, cooking stew and polishing weapons while the real combatants are out fighting.
