This is a work in prgress , don't know how much will get done before work

Hunting solo

CH will of course be a better choice for the "lone wolf" ranger. For the restof us, here's something to consder. Because grouping with your harv droid just causes more headaches than what it's worth, I will Instead hunt, grouped with a combat droid. Grouping will give you an extra 20% which is more than the harvdroid will give, even with my 115 harv droid. So which droid should we rangers use? Well, it's a good thing that my alt is a master DE isn't it My professional reccomendation would be to get a auto heal probot. I will explain why.

Option 1

Probots have a built-in attack . The advantage of this is that you can fit 5 auto heal modules in a probot making it a great tank. It will not do much damage for you but it will argo the mob and keep itself healing, all you do is add batteries. I have done field tests with this setup and it works quite well. You will get a tank and the extra 20% harvest and is optimum for the ranged ranger.

Hunting in a group

Those of us that hunt in a group with harvesting droids should receive not only the 20% group bonus, but also the extra bonus from the harvester droid. Very nice. I am looking forward to the upcomming ranger hunts where we all go out and hang together. Then of course add the bonus for me being a trandosian and I'm happy, is there still a race bonus I wonder?

Option2 - "The Killing Machine"

Now here's something really cool that you may not know. Auto heal will heal EVERY friendlydroid in a 30m radius. So lets say we have 5 probots with various combinations of auto heal and combat ( mine has 22 auto heal and 190-200 damage speed .33). Having the droids stay together this big lump of self healing combat madness can be sent down on a target while EACH droid consistanly heals all the otherswhile attacking witha constant barage of laser fire... pretty cool huh?

I may edit this a bit at lunchtime but for now, I have to go to work. :-) hope this gives you guys some ideas

I would have thought grouping with a droid did not affect your harvest at all. At the moment we don't get the penalty when grouped with a droid, so I don't think will get the bonus either.

/edit : If you think about it, grouping with any old droid to get a 20% harvest bonus would effectively make harvest droids obsolete, so I def. can't see this being the case.

I've decided the slight variation I was seeing in harvests was just down to the critters and not my being grouped / ungrouped. What I did get was a nice increase in weapon XP if I grouped with a really low level droid.

The harvest changes aren't implemented fully on TC yet, apparently. The spawns for missions are popping out of sight when you get close and wild spawns are, well, sparse.

Things tend to get phased into Test over a few days now, so we'll know more soon. Hopefully.

I'll be seriously lit up if they let people have the bonus for grouping with a droid, an afk entertainer or an alt left back home on another planet.

we shall see once it's implemented, but this thread is mainly to get the thoughts flowing. Please feel free to add anything. All brainstorming is productive. IMO droids would be MORE effective. In a group you will get the 20% AND the bonus, so if some people choose to use them (combat droids)solo and get just the 20% itwouldn'tbe making droids obsolete since people will wantharv droidsfor the group hunting additional bonus.

Agreed, assuming the group bonus does apply to droids. We will have to wait and see.

Arggggh...

I FREAKING TOLD YOU SO

Way back when, grouping with a droid/pet made a group and the harvest went down. Everyone whined, not me and some others though, and the Devs changed the coding so that droids grouped with you do not engage the harvesting penalty. You do get the XP bonus for groups - go figure.

Now y'all want to have droids/pets to count as a group. Sorry, you got what you asked for already, deal with with it.

Oops, I told you way back when this would come and bite us in the ass, and no one listened. Solo is solo, and a group is a group. Now we have to live with what we got. A group equals another person, or another person and two droids. Least lairs go quicker and you can pick on each other whilst harvesting.

JB

do a search, this was way early on in the game.

btw, "Strategies".

Yup I remember this JB, I never had a problem with how it was origanally and then it was changed. I do want to try the Killing Machine theory if anyone is interested . Oh and get a screenie, it'll be cool

thanks for the spell check edit, I rushed it and forgot to do it myself

Killing machine.

Me, another master pistoleer, two probots - both fully attack with no autoheal. Have one person control both droids - befriend. Put them both on guard. Waltz into a red zone, let the carnage begin.

Person 1 calls targets and nails them. #1 has a ton of firepower there, essentially 3 people's worth. Person #2 either pops the same targets or looks for leakers.

Adding a third person and an autoheal bot, with all bots under one person would be awesome. We must take this under advisement.
