Thread: What the ?

I'm a novice 2H (well I have the points for int finesse and a 175k box) and there was a sniper in our city of the opposing faction last night. I was covert at the time and was hanging out in the cantina. There wasaone overt there (our side). I have a habit of keeping my eye on the radar as most of us faction members do covert or overt.

I see the this red dot running into the catina and gave a local "watch out!". There was a short battle and my buddy died. So I figure the opponent must be weakened... I'll go overt and finish him off. I go overt and come running back in the cantina towards the red con (apprentice carbineer). At about 15 meters from him I suddenly went into this slow motion - matrix type mode - and it wasn't cool in this sense. That lasted about 4 seconds and oopmf - I'm down.

Could someone tell me what that move-shotwas and is there anyway to avoid it? If not is there any point to PVP at all for swordsman? I've played a lot of MP tactical games and I've never felt so vulnerable and weak. Occasionally in huge battles there is so much confusion It's not to hard to get close to an opponent who's concentrating on someone else but one on one?

Also... If I pick up intermediate sword defense will it help this situation?

Thanks for your input!

it wasn't just lag? running into cantinas always slows me to a crawl.

Never heard of any "slow down" special shots before, so don't know what else it could have been

No I wish it were lag. I have a 2.8 w/ a gig and broadband. I was thinking this was some kind of knockdown attack. Maybe it wasn't 4 seconds but it sure seemed like it!

Could a one head shot do that?

Also... rather than start a new thread... for you PVPers what intermediate skill didyou take first?

thanks

I could be one of the leg shots, i think they mess up movement, and im fairly sure carbineers get a ranged knockdown. However,I would guess cantina lag, because well, cantinas lag.

rifleman doesn't get fancy moves like that...

their attacks are basically mindshot (mind bleed) or headshot (tries to one shot you with 50% chance of a good enough damage)

they're supposed to get a move that makes you kneel/prone.. but right now its broken

i'd also say its cantina lag.. u might have the best system.. but SOE lags and thus u lag =/

or maybe u were fighting a carabiner instead... were the bolt green? red/blue = riffler. .green = carbine

and carbine has TONS of weird status effect.. including knockdown etc

I'm trying to kill some Mantigrue Reapers on Endor and everytime I kill one I get the "The Creature did not have any intact harvestable ressources" Wt.h ? I can pick up it's meat fine, but can't pick up the hide.

If you see the message "sickly and scrawny" when you do harvest, as I was on Endor earlier today, that is another giveaway that the resource is shifting.

Herbie meat on Endor is due to change.

What is odd. Harvest meat from creature A, sickly and scrawny. Harvest hide from creature B, fat and happy. Go figure.

And remember, Pickets have no bones.

I love the "fat and happy" that JB used. Much better than the "fat and healthy" I get lol.

Anyone else think that it's funny that a creature can be fat AND healty? When you think about it, fat and happy is a much better term. Of course they'd probably be less happy when you shoot them. Oh well.

This is horrible! I return to find my new title on the forum is "Jedi". What's up with that? If they wanted to confer that I'm rare and learned, they'd make my title RANGER. and then make it camo colored.

Getting shot by Ki'ara is enough to make any critter happy. In fact, they usually come swarming to her in hopes of getting shot. It's gotten so bad she has to /conceal everywere she goes.
