Thread: Question regarding /conceal

I have recently picked upthe /conceal skill. It seems to work well enough until I get into a fight. I know /conceal and /maskscent drop once combat is initiated, but once a target is aggro towards me, /conceal doesn't work anymore for that target.

Here's the specific example: when I'm soloing a creature or NPC that is too tough for me to take out in a single attack, I usuallyuse a hit-and-fade technique to kill off the target. On the first pass at the target, I get them bleeding and do as much damage as I can before I have to retreat. The next pass(es) is just a repeat of the first pass until I can kill off the target. I'd like to use /conceal to get closer to the target on subsequent passes since the target immediately goes aggro once I get within 40 or 50 m. However, the few times I've tried this, it hasn't worked. I apply concealment before approaching the target the second time and once I reach 40 or 50 m, they go aggro like I was never concealed in the first place. I feel like I should be able to sneak up and tap my target on the shoulder before they know I'm there if I've applied concealment, but that isn't the way it works for me. Is this a bug? or does /conceal improve as you work your way up the skill tree?

I've scanned the Ranger posts for this information, but haven't found anything enlightening yet. If someone could post a link to the appropriate thread(s) or even post their experiences with /conceal to answer my question, I would appreciate it.

Thanks,

My experience has been that with bleed, the target creature will continue to see you until the bleed icon on the ham bar is gone. After the bleed is finished, however, you can approach /concealed without an issue (other than the normal checks vs conceal). If you do not use a DoT (damage over time) attack /conceal will work against a creature that has held aggro on you before. That is my experience with it anyway. Ill pay better attention and re-post ifI notice differently.

Thanks for the quick post. I noticed the DoT effect also, but I always try to wait for the bleed to disapate and have its full effect before I return to finish the job. I have problems with /conceal working even after the bleed has stopped. Anyone else have this problem?

I have this same problem withNPC's as well, only worse. I'd love to hear aboutanyoneelse's experiences with using/conceal against NPC's.

Spit is exactly right. If you wait until your blead is gone then you can sneak up again. Just keep them targetted as you run away. That way you can see their HAM and effects.

This game deals with combat and agro on a damage basis. A MOB will go after what ever did the most damage to it. Here is an example. You send your pet in to start attacking something. After few seconds you start shooting at it also. Well if you out damage your pet, the creature will then turn on you. This is not hard set, and if you are at least 20m or more away from the creature, it will stay on what ever is closest, you pet. But I have seen MOBs turn away from something attacking it and run after the BH doing tons of damage from his LLC.
