Thread: How did YOU make it through Survival?
Also, while you are camping, be making the best camp you are able to craft, which at Survival 3 is the Field base kit. Just put them on practice mode if you don't want to clog up your inventory and pump them babies out. Also, you'll want to use your downtime the same way. Anytime you're sitting, waiting for a shuttle, be making field bases. If you get in a big group where you are making most if not all the camps and you have lots of people and big pets in there, you'll get to Survival 4 in no time. If you can, get some guild buddies or friends to spend a day with you on a planet camping. If you're getting around 120xp per camp made and 1100-1200 per camp used then you can get the xp fast.
Good luck and have fun!

I also went to the higher level planets and grouped with about 7 other people. I made all the camps and I disbanded and created a new camp about every 5 - 7 minutes, getting full XP for each one.
If you try to solo-camp that much XP, you'll be in pain. Find a good sized hunting group and the XP will fly by.
Just grind it. If you had enough hide, bone, and metal u could Survival IV and Frontiering IV in a day. That's what I'm doing.
I did the grind from Novice Ranger to Frontiering II in just about an hour. Then got the new camp kit. Unfortunately, I couldn't get hold of the bone and hide needed to make the grind to Frontiering IV, so a little over half of the Frontiering grind was done by actually making camps in groups.
But, last night, I finally stopped long enough to take a look at my inventory. At that time I had enough Hide and metal to make it all the way up to Frontiering IV, but not enough bone. Right now, I'm about 2K points away from finishing Frontiering III. I found enough bone last night (off the bazaar). So, using crafting macros I will get to Frontiering IV in about an hour tonight.
Like I said, it's all about materials. If I could have found enough bone, hide, and metal for sale (even at a fairly high price), I would have done the entire Frontiering grind from Novice to Frontiering IV in a couple of hours. But, I will have it tonight. I can't wait to whip out my first Advanced Field Base Kit

just load the camps up in the top row of toolbar and the 10 macros in the lower bar. Start and go to bed.
Still takes a while to get the survival xp but at least it's unatended whiles
Macros are too slow.
Getwith friends, go hunting, kill big things, drop a camp, heal, craft next camp... with 8 people you max a camp in less than 6 minutes if you are all healing and crafting and someone is entertaining.
One trip to Dathomir, 8 of us (we were wimpier then) with pets, 16 missions, 12 camps --- 15k in survival and a load of hides and meat to sell.
Alternative, set up camp in a highly traveled area... have a bunch of stims, advertise free healing... works well too.
Just go for it - do other things in camp, and craft for practice

Buy alot of metal, like around 10k worth. Craft ranger camp kits in practice mode, you'll get 300 to 400 exp per kit made, do this while sitting in a ranger camp that way you get all the xp from the camp time as well. I learned this trick when i was grinding survival IV. I got 20k survival exp in about 2 hours doing this.
Macroing is slow but effective if you cant group for some reason. Grouping is the fastest way to get the XP, hands down! Fishing will add a 100 or so per catch while you are camping as well.
