Thread: Master Ranger + (some)bh or Master Carbine
I was wondering if you guys could give me some advice.
I originally wanted to become a bounty hunter so I went ahead and made Novice and picked up a couple of bars in carbine and one in pistol. At that point, it became clear to me that what I really wanted to do was be a lone gunman out in the wilderness. Enter: Ranger.
So, given Master Ranger is my top priority, what would you guys suggest for auxiliary skills: keep what I can of bounty hunter or dump it and work my way up to Master Carbineer?
I've found reading through these forums (not the Ranger forum, clearly, which is why I'm asking here) to be very confusing trying to figure out what really is nerfed and what is really just being whined about by the self-centered.
Again, I love Ranger because it makes me feel self-sufficient outside of cities. I hunt and cook(sic) for myself and build my own camps. Nerfed as the class might currently be, it still makes me happy.
Thanks for any advice you can give me!
Unless and until Carbine is fixed, it is the weak broken wimpy sister of the weapons family. Your choices are limited, the moves eat your HAM pts faster than the bad guys can, and you still suffer from range limitations, both near and far.
I firmly believe they are nerfing pistol to give Carbines a boost, which in and of itself is wrong.
I went Pistol, never looked back and am glad of it. The first weapon I dropped in Master Marksman was carbine. Never missed it. I miss rifle sometimes, but have a Rifle hunting partner... she does conceal shot, and when it breaks, it's trap city and bleed shots by me. Good combo btw.
Anyhow, IMHO carbines are best left alone for the time being. Go pistol or rifle.

Thanks for the responses guys. I haven't committed myself yet, but took novice carbineer last night. I guess I'm a glutton for punishment: Ranger/Carbineer. I do wish the solution to balancing weapon classes was NOT to nerf other classes. Seems a bit unfortunate to me. It's unfortunate, too, the vicious cycle of nerfed carbine, fewer carbineers, smaller lobby for carbineers, less response to carbineer issues. Ah, well, I will take my punishment like the puny man I am -- at least in the SWG universe.
Thanks again for the tips.
