Thread: Probelms With Conceal.
Now i attribute this to there lack of the camoflauge skill, but i propose we petition for conceal to work on the skill of the ranger who concealed them and that the ranger get an automatic warning when a group mates conceal has dropped via "System Message". i understand this class has a lot more work but i am going to keep in it until I have absolutely cannot take the buggyness of it anymore.
Don't take this as a rant i am just expressing my concerns and opinions for me and possibly those who have also experienced this disheartening effect.
"Now i attribute this to there lack of the camoflauge skill"
That would be incorrect...
/conceal applied to other people is intentionally more prone to failure.
- This is to encourage people who want the full power of the skill to spend the skill points and get it themselves.
It also has a logical reasoning as well...
- As even though other players are physically concealed, they don't have the experience that comes with Ranger... And will invariablystep on a branch and give away their position more often than us.
----
As for the System message, I like that idea, and will make note of it. ![]()
Perhaps the system message could be as follows
"Concealee's name" has stepped on a branch giving away there position and breaking the camoflauge.
the problem i have with this as a master ranger is camo works great against any type of creature, but against ANY type of humanoid NPC it almost always fails and i get attacked.doing some experiments i have tried to go prone and crawl past them through the brush and i still almost always get attacked, this is very annoying.
are they going to fix this?because otherwise im better off just using maskscent since it dont cost me anyting to use.
"are they going to fix this?"
There have been numerous reports of humanoid npcs attacking without /conceal even being checked...
- So there is obviously a bust in the system somewhere, and that will eventually be fixed.

Whenthedeveloeprswill have time to look into the problem is another question entirely ![]()
1) Whether aggressive (red) or attacking because of bad faction (yellow or red) needs to be checked at the same time, not separately (which is what happens as best I can tell without access to the code).
2) One check only. No double jeopardy causing us twice the chance to lose against aggressive and negative faction NPCs.
3) Aggressive NPCs with highly positive faction should not attack (or make a check) either. The phrase "We love you to death" takes on a whole new meaning with the faction system...
"I can almost guarantee the "bust" in the system is that the check for faction bypasses conceal."
Possibly... But during testing of /conceal on TC I was constantly attacked by Tusken Snipers for which I had 0 Faction (I had never attacked a Tusken with that character, seeing fit to run for my life when one got near
)
- So there seems to be something else in the mix causing issues as well.

I don't know that a 0 faction test against Tuskens will actually prove that it ISN'T faction. I virtually always get attacked by Tuskens with +2450 Tusken faction. I've not yet tried sneaking into Fort Tusken though I've been planning to do it for a while :-)

Okie doke, said it before in a previous post.... bears repeating ---
I am -5000 Imperial, my buddy was -5000 Imp. He was overt, I was TEF'd from a mission not 300 m away. I camo'd up, camo'd him - note, he has master scout, no ranger. We walked up to our next mission, a pair of Imps, ranks were LTC and CPT (lieutenant colonel and captain for you non military types). I gave my target a hug, nothing. "Tagged" him...nothing. My partner did basically the same...no reactions from the Imps at all, zero, none, nada **edit** thing happened. We stepped back, let fly with the pets... we were still ignored and the camo stayed up. Only when we opened fire did the camo finally drop, but by that time the Imps were well on their way to "Good Imp Land".
Now tell me camo does not work.
Oh yeah, I was also playing "Tag" with enraged rancors and scaring another partner spitless, she did not think I could do it. Oh she of little faith.
Camo works. Just try walking past the aggros, not playing Speed Racer. I crawled up to the rancors and slowly walked off.

As snipers say...the next thing you feel may be the last thing you ever feel...check your six
"I don't know that a 0 faction test against Tuskens will actually prove that it ISN'T faction."
Of course not... My guess was that there are multiple issues.
- Neither the faction bug nor the 64m attack error are both completely to blame for all the issues we are seeing.

But if the same NPC's spawn/appear withing agro range, they will attack immediately. Looking at my combat spam, they attack first, I return fire, and then I get a message that camo broke because of combat.
