Thread: Could this Profession Combo Work?
Basically I want the ranger for the conceal and tracking skills, kind of like an assasin type character. Does anyone think something like this could work?
Any thoughts/feedback appreciated.
Have a friend who was a swordsman... notice the was. Why bring a knife to a gunfight? He got tired of spending over half his time in camps or medcenters healing. PvP was out of the question. By the time he was in range to hit, he was well on the way to dead city. He finally saw the light and went pistol.
Swords and ranger does not equal ninja. Camo dies at the first shot, you are not off radar (and prolly won't ever be) and the animals like to socialize whilst beating on you.
Will it work? yeah, anything will work. Will it work well ? probably not all that great. But the bright side is your medic friends (get some) will get lots of xp keeping you alive. And camping xp will be easy to come by.

I am a Master Ranger rifleman and it is asomewhat retarded combo. Creatures charge me and then I die. I have to have creature-handler to hold the monsters back (of course with a creature out I am pretty potent). I would suspect that swordsman might be an effective choice for hunting since you can handle yourself in hand-to-hand which is where you always seem to end up as a Ranger.=)

I am a pikeman, and I love my Ranger pikeman combo.
I call rescue, and everything charges me. Then I area attack them all at once.
I think it's better than having a gun.
Go to Allakhazam's website and mess with the character builder. that will tell you whats possible, then tyr htme all I say, thats what I intend to do.![]()
I'm a ranger and for fighting I am both a rifleman and a 2-h swordsman. The combo rifleman/swordsman is of course very good considering that both targets the same pool, mind damage that is, and I have been really succesfull in killing bigcreatures with a minimum of running ![]()
A huge drawback though is that it uses too many skillpoints, I won't be able to master any of my elite professions, and that's a big loss because master is really needed in for example PvP. Just look at the insane speed increase as master rifleman...
But if you do mainly PvE I don't think there's any problem at all with going 2-h swordsman, most classes works in PvE I think.
TO JB, Piont taking about being a ninja just cause of some ranger skills. And being a swordsman is tough, especially if your in the early stages you can really get your but kicked but it gets much better. I can handle mobs of creatures very well and don't have to turn my back and run like a pitsolman. OH and last time I checked cratures don't use guns so we're not talking about a gunfight here are we? My advice to your friend would have been to continue along with swordsman, if thats what he wanted to be. It just takes a little paitence.
Keto more power too you man, I have respect for any melee fighter but there are even less pikeman than there of us. Good luck out there and yea I agree, its much better than having a gun.
