Thread: Rescue, helpfull or useless?
This will give you the time you need to either run or fight. I am melee so I can take the damage and give it right back to the critter.
From my experience, the person who you are trying to rescue doesnt know it and continues to fight. It is a great ability, but use it tactically. The failure in rescue usually means a hasty decision or a tactical error.
try this if you are a ranged fighter
/rescue
/%TT I am trying to rescue you, hit peace and run.
/ui action toolbarSlot## (phenacine dart)
/assist
this has worked well for me...play with this, I am not sure if its perfect, but im sure you get the idea.
Nice! I will have to try that since I never use rescue. Maybe mymedics will learn to love me.

It has its uses. The thing I found out, is to not use it just as is. I use a macro.
I first targe the person I want to rescue, then hit the macro. It shouts out for them to hit peace because I'm trying to rescue them. It then does /rescue, then i have it do /assist so I target the critter that was on them, and then I have press ESC key so I get off of the person. I have it throwing an adhesive mesh trap, which I always keep in a hot key loaded and ready.
I have use it like this twice, and both times, the critter got off of the person, and I didn't die. ![]()
The biggest drawback for rescue is this - Unless your hunting partners know about it, meaning you explained it in detail at some point, they are clueless what's going on and will continue to fight. Granted, the macros work, and I guess work well. But to try and rescue someone who is unfamiliar with rescue - well, it just don't work.
I seldom use rescue. About the only use was when we could "rescue" BHs from their marks and pretend we were "cleaners". Old time Rangers remember that, til that got nerfed.
It's one of those skills I just plain never use. Like crawling really fast.

As much as i know the /ui action toolbarSlot## will not work, you have still the person you try to rescue selected as target? Is there a command best to use to switch to the critter. And I'm melee too, but only wookiee pikeman 0/0/1/0.
If armour fails you love to have a pet around that jump in
.
usually when I go on guild hunts, they know what rescue does and they kinda expect me to do it if they need it. In groups where there are a bunch of people that I dont know, i usually avoid the whole issue. Unless its a doc in serious trouble, then i try it.
i dont use it as much as i think i should, and i think that it could be a much better skill
The skill is probably most useful when it comes to keeping your high-value support alive (aka Doctors). I'd rather go down first, being a fighter-type, than see the Doctor go down. At least he can keep others in the fight and possibly bring me back.
Personally, I'd rather have a "confuse" skill to stop creatures from attacking for a few seconds to give the victim (or whole group) time to recover.
The skill is good and holds great potential in our "support class". Most people don't want to be "saved" and find it offensive that the animal runs away sometimes if they're brawlers. I've had few people want me to /resc but I've done it plenty of times when health drops enough. Certainly is needed when the leader or docs are getting knocked down by something.
The macro is a nice touch but most people really haven't any clue what /rescue does let alone a macro for it to let them comprehend its apparent usefulness. I'd say better to stop a deathblow at best, or slow a death at least.
