Here's a tip on getting survival xp quick. For the record I'm 2-3-4-4 Ranger. Each feild base kit gives you about 1000xp for 20min camping alone. You can use this 20min while you're sitting in your camp to earn even more camping xp. First I recomend having 3 crafting tools. You'll need a minimum of 2.4k hide, 1.5k bone, and 1.2k metal. These numbers to not take into account critical failures. You should easily be able to craft (in practice mode) 3 field base kits per min. You get 178xp for each one. If you keep it up for 20 min, you get 1000xp from the camp and 10,680xp from crafting. If you have the patience to syick with this it will shave a LOT of time off the dreaded frontiering tree.
