I hate all avian... but it pays the bills. I actually harvested faster on the recent corellian spawn (My personal hunting spot with endless gulginaw spawns). I harvested 20k in about 3 hours. I spent all morning and last evening on Dath and scraped together a measley 5k! I also hate reptillian fliers as they end up "flying" away. And to make it worse, it's dathomir, where tons of people are already grinding FS xp not to mention pulling flier mission lairs so with all the server overload I get lots of despawning wild mobs. Still, it beats Tatooine, Rori and Talus, in that order.

Incidentally, I never get any of these tells/emails that seem to plague other rangers. The ones I do get are polite, but I usually point them to the /rin channel since I'm usually overloaded with orders.

This is why we need snare traps!

To balance out their running I recommend using a droid. Either a combat droid or Harvest droid will work nicely. If you're ranged just pick them off with a special and send the harvestor while you move on to your next target.

If its a Tank droid you prefer just send it attacking the fleeing coward and ... move on to your next target.

Not a foolproof way of dealing with it, but good anyway.

Could also throw an Adhesive mesh or Phecnacine dart at it to slow it down long enough to finish it off.

You're right though... hunting dath avian is BRUTAL. This is why we need better hunting terminals.

They fly back too you know? My tactic has been to wade in, find the nest and start whacking it, that way everything aggros me at once, then do pointblankarea -attacks with whatever weapon you use until most are dead and start hitting the nest again, this will cause those stragglers to return (slow, but they do return.. just keep using the AoE attack and you'll kill the returning stragglers as soon as they enter range)

I was kinda wondering about this. I'm still only a Novice 1-2-1-2. Do most people just wait until a master Ranger is around to start the requests? I haven't got anything at all. I'm guessing that the novice tag above my head doesn't do much for me yet.
