Ok I know this has been beat to death... but I didn't feel I got the answer I was looking for from other posts.
I had planned on pursuing mrm. But then I saw how quickly a mtka took out a lair. So my question is this. For fulfilling orders for other people, which combat profession is the most efficient in terms of speed of completing vs amount of resource harvested?
I'm pretty much at the point where i'll either continue on the rifleman path or I'll start dropping rifleman as i get into tka
HELP PLEASE!!!!!
Thanks,

There both equal... sorry
Rifle has the advantage of higher AP and different damage types. TK is limited to light AP and kinectic. But TK is great for speed and instant harvest. Your at the kill. Plus poison, disease, the common cold. No problem to a TK just pray to their god and proof meditate it away. I have been both MRM/MR and TKM/MR and by far i was more efficient buffed and unbuffed TK.

that's what i figured just wanted other people's opinions on the matter. I love rifleman don't get me wrong...but when the nasties get close it's almost useless. As melee, speed is awesome i've seen a tkm buddy of mine take out a tough creature in no time... but sometimes the creature runs away and that get's annoying. Man... i would just like a few more sp. lol.

hmmm.
thanks for your response though.

The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. Except on Lok where it's a weird lime green shade of purple.
One way of looking at it is that you CAN always go for MRM until you get sick of it (and, am told that at Master the jump in 'performance' is pretty amazing) using some skill attachments or BE clothes to give a better chance in melee. In as far as they can.
Then when you decide 'enoughs enough' you can start working towards TKM by dropping rifles little by little.
Or do it the other way round.
Having said that, I'm not sure if it's more frustrating to be part skilled in two professions, knowing you could be better in either, or be well 'ard in one, and just know that the other is outside your remit?
I mean, I'd love to be a Master Doctor / Fencer, but as a Ranger/rifleman I just have to watch the 'uber' toons do their magic fighting dance while am waiting for my mind to come back from it's shuttle trip to lalaland. But, maybe one day...
Hang on, am I channelling Jonathon Livingston Seagull ???

Well... i was also thinking that maybe just maybe keep my rifleman at 2100... drop marksman to only 4000 and get as much into tka as i could.I love being able to drop banthas on one shot...and solo mt. squills without being attacked. With that said though this then goes back to the post/suggestion of mastering a combat profession, because one thing is for sure... I will master ranger no matter what. No ifs, ands, or buts about it!!!! Maybe i'll dabble in both until i finally decide. Who knows i may like doing both right? I mean i love my t21 rifle.
hmmm.

I will tell ya what kicks big azz.
A Master Pistoleer to start the show, throw on a bleed or two, draw one critter and then the TKM unleashes his fisticles and feeties of fury. Together with a guildie, we were knocking down missions on endor like they were candy. The droids never even made a guest appearance.
Take that gleaming lantern birds and bordoks.
4 missions in under 10 minutes. My initial veghash didn't even wear off. That is one money making combo. Xp warn't bad either.

In terms of killing power, Rifleman is faster (although I might be biased as speedcapping really helps here). In terms of harvesting, I'd probably still go for rifleman. You can clear a lair with strafeshot2 well before any of the corpses decay (and that means pretty much any lair--you would probably only have trouble on stuff like kimos or krayts). Once everything is done, just walk up and harvest. You will want buffs for that method, though. Rifleman also can work unbuffed and unarmored. The autoattack does a ton of damage and suppression fire/warning shot (from ranged support) can be used to keep the enemy off of you.
On the other hand, TKM is a lot more self sufficient. The high unarmed toughness combined with powerboost means that you can hunt unbuffed and unarmored without too much trouble (although higher end game is not really a good idea like this). You can fight with no weapon (although most big stuff will need a vibro because your fists have no armor piercing, but a vibro has high HAM costs). You can heal your own wounds. And you can still kill stuff quickly. You usually kill stuff right next to you but you are succeptible to certain states that won't let you harvest.
Overall, choose what you like (although I'd recommend picking one and mastering it--it makes a huge difference). Both are a lot of fun and both are plenty powerful for hunting (most stuff dies in one or two hits with either profession).
