This is my very first post so please be patient with me.
I just picked up Ranger this weekend and I was wondering now that I have that skill can I drop Scout in order to get skill points back. If I do this will i loose any skills that I gained in that tree?

You cannot drop any Scout skills without dropping Ranger skills. In general, any skills that you need in order to gain a skill cannot be surrendered without also surrendering that skillbox; i.e. to be a Rifleman you need to have the rifle line of Marksman trained and cannot surrender the Marksman skills without first surrendering Rifleman skills.

Welcome to Rangering and congrats on your first post too.
I hope you decide to stick with Ranger, even with the skill point cost, it can be a fun profession.

Always good to see a new ranger here
Too bad you can't drop scout skills (I would drop alot of them so i could get some more ch skills, but alas)
Hope you're going to stick around.

Thanks for your help on this?
How about another question then?
I currently have Novice Ranger, Master Scout, Master Marksmen, Novice CH, Novice Pistoleer,Brawler 1/1/1/1, Medic 1/1/1/1, Artisan 1/0/0/1.
What skills should I drop in order to get Master Ranger and Master CH? Also should I concentrate on Rifleman instead of Pistoleer?

Sorry another question...Is there any Rangers on Tempest that would like to take me under their wing and show me the ropes?

Yowsers! Drop Brawler, Medic and Artisan (all of the skills including Novice) and pick either Pistoleer or Rifleman..the choice is yours in that respect (personal preference and all). When you decide whether you want Rifleman of Pistoleer, drop all of the Marksman skills that you do not need (if you pick Rifles, drop Carbines and Pistols, and decide if you want to drop the support line and vice versa for Pistols).

I agree with what calc said, drop artisan, brawler and medic and minimize marksman.
I would point you towards pistoleer over rifleman since you won'thave enough skill pointsto master, and rifleman before master isn't very good.

The best thing I can tell you to do is go to a skill generator site like this one. You can map out the template you want.
There is also a template thread, which will pretty much discuss every template you are curious about (it's also a sticky, so you can find it easier).
Edit: Blast my slow typing skills! Um, ya, what they said.

Master Marksman is a waste. FInd onecombat professionyou like and concentrate in it. Be it ranged or melee, and drop all the other stuff. A combat class master gets better missions and makes more money in the long run.
Keep novice medic. Drop Artisan. You need to heal yourself in combat sometimes. With artisan you can make shoes?? wow...
I have harvestors and no artisan.
CH, overrated, pets are a pain, takes a while to do, and you need skill points. Droids. Great tanks, take orders well, don't run until the very end and NO SKILL POINTS NEEDED.
you can triple master - Scout - Ranger and (insert combat profession here), and also have novice medic and 1 box.
just my opinion - works for me tho
