Thread: Good stats for rangers?

Your combat profession is the more important factor in this.

Seeing that you are a rifleman you still will want to maintain a larger amount of at least mind and focus (as this is as you probably know the pool you have the highest special costs as a rifleman).

I'd recommend to reduce mind down to a level that allows you to still handle the heavy mindcosts of rifleskills, don't lower focus too much as this would increase your special costs for mind even more.

When you found a value working for you, distribute the free points on health/strength/action/quickness (as you maybe see I would not put too much into the regeneration-stats, as rifles suffer from very high special costs when playing buffless you need all the points you can get on the stats that lower those costs ).

If you ask me, as of the current system pistoleer probably is the best choice for an unbuffed ranged fighter, their special costs are by far the lowest for all ranged professions .

If however you want to "cheat" like nearly ALL of those claiming to fight unbuffed do and use chef foods (which are buffs too and as such noone using chef food/drinks or spices or both really fights "unbuffed") the stat distribution does not need to be that heavily mind-centric, as in an armorless environment brandy and ahrisa should work good enough to keep your mindcosts in check .

I guess I was kind of hoping for some approximate numbers and what to put in what stat etc. although I appreciate the repsonse

I will be "cheating" as you put it with food buffs and spices but I dont want to have to return to civilzation and rely on doctor buffs to do any hunting. So I guess my question is then what do my stats need to be approximately in order to function as a non-doc-buffed no-armor wearing ranger in the wilds of dathomir?

I know that it varies by the gun I'm using etc. but I'm sure someone can give me an approximation on what their stats are so at least I have some slight template to base an ID appointment on. Otherwise I'll be making several trips to the ID for stat migration.

Thanks again

If you want to survive unbuffed on Dathomir, you'll need to make sure you can kill that Rancor before it spots you, so spamming your best ranged shot will be necessary, and that'll burn right through your mind. (I tried this out on TC5 tonight, and even with top-end dancer/musician buffs, I almost incapped myself while sniping on a stormtrooper.)

For more specifics, you'd be better off visiting the forum for the combat profession you'll be in. I'm a Master TKA and I put everything I could into mind.

Do not try Dathomir unbuffed as a TKA. >.>

Yeah, I've done tkm before.. not good on the stats. TKM sucks your HAM like no other profession due to the speed - at least in my experience.

I'll check out the combat prof forums. thanks. but I'd imagine most of them are geared towards playing buffed right? I'll have to look to see heh ..

If anyone has any pointers though I'll keep checking back. thanks.

The problem(s) with giving numbers:

I might advise you to put for example 800 points to focus but mabye you are a zabrak and can only put 500 there etc pp.

The varying species have different min and max values for all the stats, some can distribute more points than others and so on, this makes giving exact numbers a bit hard

Heya all,

Sort of new to the ranger profession but I'd like to be pretty hardcore and not have to worry about getting buffed all of the time. Right now my stats as a human are all dumped into the mind pools with very little in the others. They are what I like to refer to as a "buff babies" stats, meaning one who cannot fight without the use of buffs.. one shot normally does me in. What would you, more experienced people, recommend to me if I were planning on playing an unbuffed ranger as far as stats go?

Thanks for your help,
