I was just curious what other skills Rangers are useing, or which ones have been found to be the most useful. I know a lot depends on style of play and what you want to achieve. Personally I'm 2 2 3 4 in Ranger and Iuse Swordsmen for combat, I have 2 2 0 0 in medic, and Novice CH. I was just curious what every one else is useing. : )

Mycurrent skill set:
Master Ranger - mainly for camo kits/tracking and hunting bonuses
Master Rilfeman - for obvious reasons
Novice Medic - mainly for selfhealing due to rifle specials
Enhanced Reflexes3-0-0-0 (Ranged Defense) - help me avoid getting hit by NPCs
Alliance Starfighter Pilot 3-4-4-3 - for easy money and faction points

Ile is my Ranger and you can see his current skill set in my signature.
My goal is:
Master Scout
Master Ranger
Master Creature Handler
Imperial Ace
Rifle 0/3/0/0 (Just enough to be an effective sniper)
This is not a strong template but I have found it to be supremely enjoyable. Especially since it forces me to play like I did during my first year in the game. No buffs,no food, noweapon or armor bordering on the verge of exploit. Just me, my pets, a low-mid level T-21, and a lot of fun.

You mean there's something other than Ranger?
J/k, I'm working my way up the rifleman trees now and I also have novice medic, novice artisan and two ch boxes. At some point, I'm going to have to give up artisan and medic but am puting it off as long as possible. Might just have to break down and get a second account

Ive been a rifleman from launch and it still holds the appeal it always has for me. Its the only proffesion where i can go out and hunt all day and never get hit once. It makes me think about where and what im shooting at and never requires me to get buffs or wear armour.Great profession and cant see me dropping it any time in the future.Message Edited by Owen-Lars on 03-18-2005 08:58 PM
During the Days of NRaas, I decided to experiment with every single weapon profession there was, minus BH and Commando. (Sadly Smuggler is only 1/4 combat) Anyway, i went to the melee professions first. I enjoyed tka and fencer, but i wasnt too sad when i dropped them. Next was swordsman. the ability to deal out such great damage was very cool, and i had a blast... then pikeman. it was slow and painful until i mastered it, and then i realized that i had pretty much found my melee profession favorite. I still have master pikeman right now, and its amazing for good close quarter combat.
Pistoleer was the first combat profession that i had mastered and while it was fun, the profession was not well thought out and implemented and left a lot to be desired. Carbineer i then mastered, it was fun but not very usefull for ranger in my opinion. I saved rifleman for last because somehow i knew that i would love it. I will soon drop pikeman and go back (for the 6th time back to master ranger) hehe..

Nice hehe. Sounds like a good journey you've been on.
My core template has been Ranger/Rifleman all along but ive always wanted to go SL and Smuggler but the proffesions never had the community like we have that made the poor implementation managable.
That will change soon though and i think ill be checking them out
i realy cant wait.

Master TKA, probably switching to Rifles at some point, and Novice Medic. I'm actually debating whether I want to keep Novice Medic or go get that last box or two in the FS Survival Tree, just to get that last drop of +5 harvesting.

For the longest time, i was a Ranger/ Pikeman/ Medic.
I love pikeman, its sexy as hell and you can knock things down all around you. Nothing much is better than 12 flopping stormtroopers on the ground.
However, i am so impressed with the sheer power of rifleman, i am going to try that for a while.

Its quite addicting Drak, I used to have swordsmen, but I switched to rifles for a change. I honestly do want to try some other combat profs, but the ability to just literally slay everything in a 64m cone is jawdropping. The fact that you can do this unbuffed against mid to high level npc's makes it even better.

So True
I recently mastered rifleman, and i cannot remember the last time i felt such a passion for a great profession. I go out and i hunt unbuffed happily and healthily. while pikeman is an underrated profession, i must say that i really saved the best for last.
