Are there any other actual army rangers that play? I graduated from Rangers school in 96 and have since gotten out of the military but i've found that the same tatics still apply, especially if you can get a group organized to carry out a plan. I've gotten together with some ex-military from other guilds and we've been testing camo and tatics on "THE OTHER" faction with amazing results. 7 of us can easily carry out a raid and we are trying to kick things up a notch. I think changes to the GCW will help this out tremendously and i see the biggest role for Ranger in the change is to do advanced scouting, camo up strike teams to sneak into enemy basesand set up rally points for an organized retreat. Getting people organized enough to stick to the plan an not panic has been..."interesting" but it slowly comes together at times. I think the GCW upgrade will be a positive thing (although i'm not sure how the combat upgrade will change things more).
Is there a possibility to get a change to camps so that they will remain active if ANYONE is still in them. I understand that there are xp considerations so make is so that the Ranger has to be present to get XP but let the came stay up if someone is in it. Maybe i'm just doing it wrong but if i'm not in camp is disbands. A simple change like this would greatly aid in seeing up strikes as the camp can be set up as a rally point complete with Doctors and Dancers waiting to treat the wounded in combat. It would also allow for a easy to find rally point for retreating teams. I realize that they won't do invisibilty in PVP but how about changing it slightly so that camo fuzzes the radar, if you are caught in line of site by players, camo is blow but you aren't seen on radar. Ranger is not a combat profession in this game but they could give us more guettilla type tatics to use.
Any other military interested in playing more in the civil war aspect of Star Wars, if you're on intrepid , drop by CF on tat for a chat.
(with the whole JTL expansion, adding halo drops from a shuttle would be cool....only in my dreams i guess)

Rumor says I played grunt for 5 years in some silly unit that fell outta airplanes. Then I changed jobs but kept falling outta airplanes for most of the 20 I stayed. They kept sending me to actual units so I got to learn real stuff, not the useless stuff you learn at Corps level.
Yes, tactics, especially small unit tactics, will play a vital role once Line of Sight and some other stuff is enacted. Proper use of terrain, cover, concealment and weapons will make a lot more difference. Them that know tactics will tend to prevail more often.

Well, i'm no RL Ranger, but I"m a grunt through and through. I'm a weekend warrior and a Vet of Iraq. 9 months in Baghdad coulda been worse, we were lucky. Too bad we aren't on same server.
If the Imp, and even Rebel, scout armors had a limited color selection, that would greatly add to Immersion and cammo capabilities. The Swamp Trooper Armor is VERY effective on naboo and rori, in dense forest and at night. I want SWAMP TROOPER ARMOR!!!!!

I'd love it if our camps wouldn't disband on us. I know it's to avoid people setting up a camp and then going to combat for a while, getting "free" XP, but even in the highest-end camp, I get agro'd in there sometimes, and it shuts down my camp.
Maybe coding it (if possible) so camp is "suspended" until we're out of combat or something. Or so that the XP shuts down, but we can still control the camp (choose to disassemble it, or take control again, thus eliminating the need for it to poof).

Next time there is a test center ranger meet up or something we should all try to get together for the intent of trying playing hunting instead of big game hunting...just to show ourselves and others that we can play ranger in combat just as well as a spamming, combat stacked TK.

I have deep respect for anyone who or was in the military.
I've always loved the military and my favourite part of the Army are the Army Rangers. It's the main reason why I became a Ranger in SWG. I love the aspect of being one with our surroundings and hunting ... but I just love roleplaying a Rebel Army Ranger, especially since I picked up Rifleman.
I just read the GCW update on the main page and I honestly believe that we are going to have a big part in the GCW ... especially with being able to conceal ourselves and others from enemy NPCs (now if it only worked on players). With tracking we can be the ultimate scouts; jot down the names of known Imperial "Special Forces" (IE. PvP activated players) and scan ahead. Being able to track players can be devastating to a group waiting to ambush -- just look for known names who go overt frequently and if others are within 2-5 meters of said person then it's more than likely a group waiting for action. Tracking this from 450+m out of view range is a huge advantage.
I'm very anxious and can't wait for the GCW. I'd be more than glad to help anyone in a battle, especially fellow Rangers on Intrepid (/wave uber-nug).

I'm not worried about 30k of anyting. My DE/Weaponsmith is only able to get a small fraction of what he needs to be able to make great weapons and even a small run of subs is using that up fast.
