Thread: Trap Master and You
1.) Sometime fail when creating them.
2.) Are unable to trap some creatures.
3.) Notice no changes to target when using blind, and noise/stun attacks.
why in the world would I ever want to make a flash trap? I make darts and mesh's,...thats it.
We need a trap to stop human NPC's
because creating them has to do with artisan....and some creatures ares till too strong..like krayts and kimos lol
but i got a few traps of kimos at advanced2...so yeah
The chance to get a successful trap on a creature seems very random and inconsistent .
There are times when I can trap a red con MOB with a high challenge level 10 times in a row without fail , then there are times when I fail attempting to trap some blue con MOB that won't even give me 100 points of trapping XP .
Then I go fight something that gives me 500 trapping XP every time , has ridiculously high HAM bars , challenge level is high and I'll trap it with 100 % no fail .
Then the next night I'll get two fails in a row on the same creature , sometimes three fails , or every other one will catch , and then I'll get killed .
I don't know what's going on , the traps are inconsistent , only two of them DONT suck and I reached Trap Master in one day , getting 700 trapping XP over and over on the same few MOBs .
So , add all that to the junk pile of things not working correctly in this game at the moment .
It depends on
1) The strength of the mob you are fighting
2) Your trapping skill
3) Some random chance
and most importantly
4) The quality/type of materials you used to create the trap. Traps work just like any other crafted weapon in the game...the better and right combination of materials combined with a good trapping skill will allow you to assemble batches of more effective traps.
Number 4 is probably the most overlooked aspect of trap assembly and success rates.
The fact that materials effect trap quality doesn't seem legit in my mind...
I've made about 100000 phecnacine traps and no matter what materials I use... if it lands, the mob is snared for 4 - /bodyshot2 every single time.
In fact its so consistent that I have macros that include traps to refire them after 4 shots...
You must be using adhesive mesh or other traps that seem to have a random timer.

The only stats I ever get any variation on when crafting traps is the top one , Durability . It goes from low single digits to 22 some times with good materials . The bottom stat , effectiveness is ALWAYS zero , no matter WHAT resources I'm using , or the quality of any of them .
This is NOT working correctly and if our chance to succesfully trap a creature is dependant on the quality of the trap then our abilty to make quality traps must be fixed . As it stands I hammer out traps as I need them , in the wild and I have no artisan skills so . I don't know . Like I said , I never experiment or anything just hammer them out when I need them , and sometimes they hit always , sometimes never and sometimes a mix .
And superiourly crafted guns don't have any better or worse to hit ratio than any other gun , even the crappiest gun made by the greenest newb crafter . The to-hit is based on the shooters skill .
AND the duration of the Phecnacine Dart ( slow bomb ) is always exactly the same , no matter if I get an utterly horrible crafted trap or an amazing success dart . It's always around 18 seconds or so , right to the second . Like the above poster said , you can count or make macros around the traps effect time because it is that consistent .
So , crafting has absolutely no effect on the front either .
And I have never ever gotten anything other than 5 uses out of a slow bomb , wether its a suck crafted one or an amazing success one .
So crafting has no effect on that front either .
I am confident that crafting has absolutely no impact on the traps effectiveness , it's duration , it's amount of uses or it's chance to hit . Not in my experience anyway . It's always the same . 5 traps per build , 18 seconds per trap , chance to hit is a crap shoot that seems completly random OTHER than the throwers skill level .
I'm at master trapper and there is no way that I should be missing a blue con twice in a row , then scoring against a red con ten times in a row . It's broken like many of our other things and needs addressing .
Peace all and good hunting

The whole crafting situation is terrible.
For traps or MSE deeds, or anything. What is the point of experimenting and making it good, and then trying to trade it or sell it to someone, and they have to take your word for it. The durabilty and quality as well as other stats should be on the item.
And this would be great for traps. Most people just make traps in the wild with no experimentation. That makes for crappy traps.
