Thread: Havesting Bug

I have a very frustrating situation.

I have the 3 harvest commands in my toolbar for quick access (/harvest hide, /harvest bone, and /harvest meat). I use them after the kill usually by pressing F2-4 to make it quicker.

2 things happen wrong in this situation vs. using the radial menu:

1) If you harvest from outside the range of the "Harvest" skill (i think it's ~15m) the harvest is of course unsuccessful (I expect this). Here is the bug. When you close to "Harvest" range (15m or less) the creature is NOT harvestable. i.e. Cannot use the /harvest command or the Harvest Resources from the radial menu. No XP is ever granted and no resources are ever harvested.

2) If you harvest a resource from a creature that it does not have (birds do not have hide or something like that) the harvest is unsuccessful (with no failure message) and a harvest for a resource that the creature DOES have is unsuccessful. Again, no XP is ever granted and no resources are ever harvested.

This all smells to be related to the "harvest once" problem that we run into with the group harvesting. I believe that the intent was to make each resource harvestable (thus the apparent misinformation from the tips screen and manual, etc). The creatures are "Harvest"able only ONCE regardless of success or failure (due to distance, wrong type attempted, etc).

Try it, I am willing to bet that with further experimentation, you too will see what I've seen. With all the harvesting we've done and are destined to do, you will have ample opportunity!

N.B.: This does NOT happen when using the radial menu to access the "Harvest" Skill.

(Note to any CSRs, Devs or Correspondents that read this. I'm going to cross post to the Discussion Forum because I revealed a lot to myself as I was writing this and it'll get buried QUICKLY over there.)

1) Harvesting outside of range

- Never had this problem myself, as I play a melee fighter andhavealways been in range to harvest

2) Harvesting an invalid resource

- Yes I have had this problem as well, and there is no way around it after you do it

I've had this problem alot, but in a slightly different way. When I am kimo hunting on Lok, it always gives me a "You cannot harvest in your current state" message. I am not in combat or anything. Once it doesn't give me the message, it won't let me harvest.

I've had the harvest range bug several times as well. It happens when I try to harvest from like 15m as you say. It gives no message, no XP, no hides/bone/meat and the corpse becomes unharvestable after that.

I've had this happen using the radial menu. I don't even have harvest hotkeyed so there's no mistaking it. I've used the radial menu from a few meters away and get no xp, no materials and the corpse becomes unharvestable. Sometimes when around 15m, I'll get the message saying something about "You've successfully harvested an 'err'". Related?

When you get the message about not being able to harvest in your current state, usually sitting down and then standing up will clear that.

I have had these hit me as well . Frustrating . Also , last night on Lok I kept getting 1 resource harvests , along with the message that the animal was skinny . This happened on everything I tried . Tonight I am getting normal harvests so far .

I always use the radial menu when harvesting (after the creature dies, usually right next to me, I hit the tilde key to get the radial menu then choose what I want to harvest). However, I have noticed sometimes I will get no message at all when I try to harvest. When that happens, I am unable to harvest that creature at all. I get no xp and no resources when it happens. What is unfortunate about this situation is that it happens randomly.

Anyway, it isn't just related to having the commands in your hotbar.

The 1 resource harvests:

I got this the other day and the solution was to stow my largest stacks of resources (i think leathery hide, wooly hide and scaly hide were all +1k) in my backpack and then I could harvest normally. I think that there is some kind of limit on the stack size...

ditto

I 2 used commands. I stick to the radial menu now, but I still have the keys programmed in the hope they fix it.
